Last week, LG launched the new G Watch R.
The circular smartwatch is expected to be one of the most expensive smartwatches on the market, set at around $400. With a price like that, the watch should provide plenty of options for its users. And it certainly does. Here is a review of the LG G Watch R.
Design and Display
The G Watch R complements the modern design of the original G Watch, adding a dose of classic look. The watch features circular 1.3 inches P-OLED display. LG used the same technology with its LG G Flex smartphone. Screen resolution of the display is set at 360 x 360 pixels and the company claims that the watch utilizes 100% of the watch face. The frame of the watch is made in stainless steel and is supported by a 22mm calf skin leather strap. The black color will be the only one available for the device. The circular design of LG’s smartwatch is a refreshing change in the market for smartwatches. Additionally, it makes the device more business friendly, offering plenty of style for its users.
Hardware and Operating System
The LG G Watch R is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor and 512 MB of RAM memory, making the device extremely powerful. The G Watch R has plenty of storage for users to save their music, videos and everything else. With 4 GB of storage, you are well covered. The watch runs on the Android Wear OS, a new Operating System specially designed for wearable devices. Users can connect their smartwatch with their smartphone via Bluetooth, and receive all of their alerts on their wrist. The Android Wear also integrates with Google Now, an assistant app that has everything ready for you, even before you ask for it.
The smartwatch boasts a 410 mAh battery that is enough to power the device and its many special features. The LG G Watch R can last two full days, without a recharge. One of the coolest additions is the IP6-certifications, making the device water and dust resistant. The watch can run underwater, exactly 30 minutes in 1 meter of water. Another feature is the voice recognition notifications. This feature provides users with information regarding missed calls, meetings, events and local weather forecasts. As with other smartwatches in the market, the Watch R also offers several fitness and health applications. Users can also track their heartbeat. Other sensors include gyro/accelerometer/compass and barometer.
The price of the LG G Watch R will be close to $400, making the device the most expensive in the market. Even Samsung’s devices are not that expensive.
