iPhone 5S vs. iPhone 5C – Quick Comparison of Specs and Features

Apple had changed its strategy by releasing its two smartphones simultaneously – the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. However, it seems that the company wants to provide the potential buyers with an option of choosing between two new Apple products, instead of other company’s handsets. Apple fanatics have been overwhelmed with the release of the iPhone 5S handset. However, the release of iPhone 5C has also geared up the competition in the smartphone market. The iPhone 5S, being the flagship variant of Apple, is matchless. However, the iPhone 5C comes with snappy features and specifications, competent to give other company’s handsets a run for their money.

However, today we compare the two handsets from Apple, with respect to their specifications.

Apple released the iPhone 5S in the higher segment of smartphones, considering its price, leaving the medium range segment for the iPhone 5C to make its mark, among other company’s handsets.

The cheaper iPhone 5C smartphone makes use of similar components as that of its predecessor, the iPhone 5 smartphone. However, with almost similar features as that of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S smartphone, it all comes down to a comparison between their respective spec-sheets.

Chipset

The first difference lies in terms of the chipset used in both the smartphones. The iPhone 5S, being a flagship variant of the company, comes equipped with the company’s A7 64-bit chipset, which is more powerful and offers much smoother performance than its predecessors. The latest release by Apple, the iPhone 5C comes equipped with Apple’s A6 chipset, which in no manner be considered to offer a drooping performance. However, the A6 chipset is no match to the fast and powerful 64-bit A7 chipset, equipped in the iPhone 5S smartphone.

Display and Camera Specs

Both the handsets come equipped with a 4-inch display having a resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels. Both the handsets offer true color representation, wide viewing angles and a brighter screen, enabling the user to view content under direct sunlight with ease.

In terms of camera, both the handsets come equipped with 1.9 micron pixels in the frontal Face Time HD camera, along with back LED illumination. Both the smartphones are capable of in-taking more light and features a True Tone Flash, making the snaps look more natural.

Chassis

The iPhone 5S differs from the iPhone 5C in terms of external appearance. The iPhone 5S comes in a metal and glass chassis, providing the flagship handset with a premium look and feel. In comparison, the iPhone 5C is manufactured in a single polycarbonate plastic chassis, which is available in a multitude of color combinations. However, the fingerprint scanner and the heart rate monitor, equipped in the iPhone 5S, takes the initiative away from the iPhone 5C smartphone.
