iPhone 5C vs Nexus 5 – Brief Comparison of Hardware Specifications

Some time back, it was a cut throat competition in the smartphone arena.

However, with the inclusion of updated smartphones from various new companies, the competition has turned into a full blooded massacre. More smartphone manufacturers have released their latest and updated handsets into the smartphone market. As a result, the competition has gone fiercer. Big guns in the market, such as Apple, Samsung, LG and HTC have to change their strategies with the changing times. Apple tried a different approach with the release of two smartphones – the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C simultaneously. In comparison, the Nexus 5 from Google has been an improved version than its predecessor, the Nexus 4 handset.

Let us compare the two handsets, in terms of their hardware specifications, to determine a superior handset between the iPhone 5C and the Nexus 5 smartphone.

Size

The major difference between the two handsets starts with difference in terms of size. The Nexus 5 is a bigger handset as compared to the iPhone 5C, in terms of length, breadth and thickness.

Weight

Both the handsets are lightweight. The Nexus 5 is heavier than the iPhone 5C handset. However, the iPhone 5C is a compact handset, as compared to the bigger Nexus 5 handset. In real time, handling both the handsets feel light, per se your desire of a high-powered handset.

Design

The Nexus 5 does not come in a striking design. It comes in a plastic body with matte finish. The slopes at the edges on its rear add to the simplicity of the handset. It does not come equipped with physical home button under the display. However, the striking feature is the protruding camera at the rear, with a unique disk around the camera lens, adding flair to the smartphone.

Processor and Performance

In terms of processor, the iPhone 5C comes with Apple A6 chipset whereas, the Nexus 5 comprises of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset inside. It is always difficult to compare the iOS operating system to that of Android based. However, both the handsets offer similar levels of performance in real time usage.

Battery

In terms of battery life, the iPhone 5C offers a better battery life than the Nexus 5 handset. When streaming Netflix, the iPhone 5C lasted longer than the Nexus 5 handset.

Verdict

These two smartphones with different operating systems, few feature differences and a big price difference offers the users an option to choose the one suiting their requirements. Both handsets offer great value for money.
