After much struggle in the smartphone arena, Sony eventually came out with a winner – Xperia Z2 smartphone.

The Xperia series from Sony has gained quite popularity in the mobile world. The earlier versions of the Xperia series came with certain shortcomings. Regardless, with ardent and strenuous work, Sony released its latest Xperia Z2 smartphone, giving its counterparts a run for their money. To summarize it, Xperia Z2 is an awe-inspiring smartphone, both in design and performance.

Sony came into direct competition with an array of flagship smartphones available in the industry. Renowned companies, such as LG, Samsung, HTC and more, had some frowned over Sony’s latest release. The HTC One M8 offers the potential user with striking appearance and flawless performance, making the handset a deserving counterpart to the Sony Xperia Z2 handset.

Let us compare the two handsets, in terms of their interface and performance.

Interface

Both the handsets come equipped with the latest Android based technology – version 4.4.2 operating system. However, the potential user should not raise their expectations to find stock Android UI on both the handsets. Sony has been meticulous with its improvements to the UI of the Xperia Z2 handset. The company equipped the operating system of the smartphone with visual and functional enhancements. In comparison, HTC also incorporated Sense 6.0 onto the M8 handset, which is smooth, consistent and bears a contemporary look. Those who have experienced Android based handsets earlier, would not have any issues using Sony’s custom user interface. Sony’s UI comes equipped with a handful of pre-loaded features. However, a plethora of features and applications can be downloaded from the Play Store.

In comparison, the HTC One M8 makes use of its Sense 6.0 UI. It can provide the user with stock Android like performance, with a few adjustments. Features such as BlinkFeed, enables the user to gather relevant information. In case, the user does not want to make use of the feature, it can be safely turned off, without any hassle. The Sense 6.0 enables the user to accomplish a plethora of tasks.

Performance

When comparing the two handsets in terms of performance, it is tough to come to a conclusion as both share similar hardware specifications. A powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset powers both the handsets. To be precise, the MSM8974-AB chipset along with quad core Krait 400 processor, running at a speed of 2.3GHz along with Adreno 330 graphic processor powers both the smartphones.

However, both the handsets are entirely different from each other in terms of performance. The Z2 lags because of its overcrowded home screen, but the heavy 3D games perform perfectly fine on the handset.

On the other hand, HTC One M8 does not come up with similar performance issues. The One M8 appears snappier when browsing to and fro through home screen. Regardless, playing heavy video games poses a problem for the handset.

Memory

In terms of memory, the Z2 comes equipped with 3GB of RAM, as compared to the decent 2GB of RAM on the One M8 handset. Both the handsets incorporate 16GB of internal memory, along with an external memory card slot for memory enhancement of up to 128GB.
