HTC has a new, budget, LTE smartphone on the market.
The company markets Desire 510 as the most affordable device in the Desire lineup that can support 4G LTE network. What is so special about the Desire 510? Well, aside from the fact that for $150 you can get a smartphone that supports LTE, you also get a good quality handset that runs the newest Android, KitKat. The company is set to deliver an LTE experience to people who don’t want to spend a fortune on their smartphone. 4G LTE technology is available for a few select high end devices at the moment. Desire 510 brings those benefits and much more to its users.
Design and Display
From a design standpoint, the Desire 510 is a decent, yet nothing special handset. The device has a 4.7 inch screen display, with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. Navigation buttons are placed on the display.
The device feels pleasant in the hand, even though it is somewhat heavy. The Desire 510 weighs 158 grams and its dimensions are 140 x 70 x 9.99. The phone is available in Terra White and Meridian Grey colors. The back cover is removable and the phone also has a removable battery.
Hardware and Operating System
Inside, the HTC Desire 510 boasts a robust processor, the latest Snapdragon 410 with integrated 64-bit processing. The processor is quad-core at 1.2GHz, powered by 1 GB of RAM memory. The new processor is specially built for budget phones and allows them to maximize their 4G LTE capabilities. The device has 8 GB of internal storage memory, but with a microSD card, the memory can go up to 128 GB.
We’ve mentioned that one of the advantages of the device is that it runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, with Sense 6 integrated into the OS.
Camera
For a phone this cheap, the camera is in excellent shape. The HTC Desire 510 features a 5-MP rear facing camera that can record videos of 1080p. The downside is that there is no flash and taking pictures in night conditions is tricky. The front facing camera is merely a VGA shooter, making it useless for the popular selfies.
Battery
The Desire 510 comes with a 2100 mAh battery that can last 17 hours of talk time. According to company’s statistics, the handset should deliver 646 hours of standby time on a 3G network.
Price
There is still no word about the price of the Desire 510. However, judging by previous handsets in this class, the price should be no higher than $150.
