Gionee Elife E7 vs Nokia Lumia 920 – Comparison of Display, Hardware and Software

Last year, the big guns in the industry were silent with their new releases.

However, in such depressing times the Chinese came to the rescue. The Chinese company, Gionee released their state of the art handsets into the smartphone arena, giving tough competition to the already existing handsets. The release of Gionee Elife E7 smartphone by the Chinese manufacturer is claimed to be a high-quality handset, which comes at a steep price as well.

The difference between Android based smartphone and that of Windows Phone has always been an interesting discussion. Today, we compare the all-encompassing Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone against the Gionee Elife E7 smartphone, with respect to their display, hardware and software features.

Display

In terms of display, the Gionee Elife E7 handset comes equipped with a 5.5-inch JDI display that has a resolution of 1080p. The display of the E7 handset encompasses a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective coating against dust and scratches. The handset comes in three variants,

  • 4G LTE model with a RAM of 3GB and internal storage capacity of 32GB.
  • 3G model with a RAM of 3GB and internal storage capacity of 32GB.
  • 3G model with a RAM of 2GB and internal storage capacity of 16GB.

In comparison, the Nokia Lumia 920 handset comprises of a 4.5-inch IPS LCD Pure Motion HD+ screen, having a resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels. The display offers a pixel density of 332-ppi, offering crisp and detailed images to the user. The IPS LCD display offers the users with wide viewing angles and natural looking colors. The bright screen of the Lumia 920 offers a decent viewing experience, even under bright daylight.

Performance

In terms of hardware performance, the Elife E7 handset derives power from Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset running along with a quad core MSM8974AC processor, clocked at 2.5GHz. The powerful graphic processor along with a RAM of 3GB and 2GB ensures smooth functioning of the handset. However, the two 3G variants of the Elife E7 handset offer the user with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, running at a speed of 2.2GHz.

In comparison, the Lumia 920 smartphone derives power from a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus dual core processor, clocked at 1.5GHz and accompanied with a RAM of 1GB. The Windows Phone offers general performance, no different from other Windows Phone available in the market. However, the lack of external memory card enhancement slot is a disappointment, especially with the internal memory of mere 32GB.

Operating system

The Chinese manufacturer, Gionee has equipped the Elife E7 handset with personalized Android version 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is also known as the Amigo version 2.0 operating system, which derives power from the 2500 mAh battery.

In comparison, the Windows Phone has been known for its consistency. However, with the Windows Phone 8 operating system on the Lumia 920, the users would undergo a pleasant experience, similar to that of other Windows Phone, available in the market. However, a major difference lies in the ‘pure experience’ apps, such as Nokia Maps, City Lens, Music and Drive, which are only available on the Lumia series from Nokia.
