Can The New iPhone 6 Plus Take On The Nexus 6 ? Let’s Find Out

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have the early advantage in the market against Google’s Nexus 6 device which hasn’t been even unannounced, whereas the Apple devices made their debut earlier this month on September 12. If you don’t know whether to get the iPhone 6 Plus or wait for the Google Nexus 6, you’ve come to the right place, as we’re going to see what users can expect from both devices. Hopefully, this will help you make up your mind.

Design

For the exterior design of its new flagship, Apple has taken a few pages out of the iPad Air’s book. It strapped a beautiful metal finish on its device, but the material gives more of a ceramic feeling. Nevertheless, the phone is comfortable to hold, especially the back.  The handset is slim and sleek, and the curved edges are a nice touch for the stylish phone.

Display

The iPhone 6 Plus is the first phablet device offered by Apple, and it comes with 5.5 inches worth of screen real estate, using the LED-backlit IPS LCD technology. Many of you might know it by its branding name, the Retina Display. That all sounds impressive, but what is it up against? Well, the upcoming Nexus 6 will come with a true HD IPS screen which will measure 5.9 inches. It is expected to feature a 2K resolution of 1440 x 2560 and a 496 ppi pixel density. You could say that it’s quite the competition for the Apple device which will come with a 1080 x 1920 resolution and 401 ppi pixel density.

The iPhone 6 Plus features an improved resolution that makes viewing video content great not just because of the screen’s size, but also due to the high quality.

Hardware

The specification for the upcoming Nexus device look quite promising, as the device is set to feature a quad core processing unit branded Qualcomm Snapdragon 805. The Krait 450 chip will feature 1 2.7 GHz clock speed and will face a  A8 chip clocked at 1.4 GHz as part of the iPhone 6 Plus. The RAM capacity is believed to be greater, of 3 GB, as compared to the iPhone 6 Plus’ 2 GB.

While there will be 32 GB available for storage capacity for the Nexus 6, the iPhone 6 Plus will come in three variants, of 16, 64 and 128 GB of internal memory. There will be no microSD card support for either device.

Moving on to camera specifications, we have a 13 MP lens equipped with LED flash for Google’s flagship, while the iPhone 6 comes with an 8 MP camera. It may be weaker in terms of MP, but it packs quite a punch. The complementary front facing camera will feature 1.2 MP for the iPhone and 2.1 MP for the Nexus. As far as the Nexus device is concerned, you can expect 4k video recording support.

The Nexus 5 came with a 2300 mAh battery, so that’s something to consider while awaiting information about the Nexus 6 unit.

Extra Features

  • You can use the new iPhone in a landscape view, like you would do on an iPad
  • Both phones feature NFC support which you can use to make mobile payments, either with Apple’s new Apple Pay or with Google Wallet for the Nexus
  • The iPhone 6 Comes With a fingerprint scanner

The flat price for the 16 GB iPhone 6 and 6 Plus is $649 and $749 respectively. In the US, the price for a contract version starts at $299 for the 16 GB iPhone 6 Plus, and increases by $100 for each model.

Speculations about the Nexus 6 pricing place the device somewhere along the  €420 mark, but more information will be available once the device is announced, which shouldn’t be too long now.
