The Crew Closed Beta for PS4 and Xbox One – Coming Soon

The rumors are confirmed. Ubisoft is bringing a second closed beta of The Crew to PS4.

The upcoming racing title has been in the news because of a botched beta test which received a lot of criticism. However, Ubisoft has been quick on its feet and has arranged a second beta for owners of PS4 and Xbox One. A very limited number of players are being asked to participate in the beta, the details of which will only be revealed later.

Beta One

The first beta test for The Crew was really a disaster. The internet was soon plastered with negative reviews and disappointments with long cinematic cuts that ended up being unnecessary breaks into the real game play. Almost everyone agreed that the game had nothing in it for serious gamers. An entire generation of gamers, who grew up on games such as Need for Speed, and expected much more from racing games, were disappointed at the shallow game play options that The Crew offered. Interestingly, it wasn’t long after that The Crew announced a second beta, this one promising to be a much better deal than the disappointing first test run.

The Crew Beta for PS4 and Xbox One

Though Ubisoft is making amends by offering a second beta, which promises to be better than the first one, it has still managed to anger a considerable number of players. Apparently, Ubisoft’s The Crew will only be launched with PS4 and Xbox One, without any mention of PlayStation 3. This is very disappointing for those who have not yet upgraded to PS4, and those who are not planning to do so at all. Of course, this doesn’t sit well with a lot of other players, who have been criticizing various studios for releasing games only for next gen consoles. To them, this is a type of discrimination that cannot be tolerated at all, and Ubisoft may have to bear the brunt for this move.

Will there be a Title for PS3 and Wii?

Ubisoft has not yet made its position clear about the PS3 and Wii. The open world racer has been announced for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in November, later this year. However, there hasn’t been any mention of PS3 or Wii U – both of which have a large user base. The development and marketing team has clarified that The Crew was specifically designed for the next gen consoles, and that PS3s and Wii Us will not be able to do justice to the wide angled cinematic cuts of the game. They would be able to release the game for Xbox 360, a console closest to the technology of the next gen gaming conWii U owners, at this time, they would not be able to release the game on any other consoles. Perhaps, at a later date, they may change their minds. Till then, it seems that PS3 and Wii U owners do not have much to cry about, since the game is yet to receive any glowing recommendations from beta testers and reviewers.
