Sony Xperia G vs Xperia Z1 – New Mid-Range Smartphones With Flagship Design

Sony achieved its goal with the Xperia Z premium series and now is moving forward by bringing us a new lineup – Xperia G. The Xperia Z models were the flagships making Sony proud, but the company decided to make two other mid-range series, Xperia T and Xperia E, for the rest of customers with low incomes. Now, the Xperia G series joins these two, and there are some leaked details and pictures presenting the new smartphone.

A Twitter user posted a photo of the Xperia G, which is said to come with an affordable price, but with a flagship design. The phone appears in the picture next to the Xperia Z1, and it’s easy to guess that the bigger phone is the Z1, while the smaller handset is the Xperia G, but they have almost the same design.

It is speculated that the Xperia G will have a 4.8inches display which will support a resolution of 1280x720pixels or lower, 960x540pixels. The phone couldn’t have a lower resolution than that, plus it is considered to be an alternative to the Xperia Z flagships and we know that this series comes with high resolutions. As for the back camera, it is said that the Xperia G will sport an 8MP shooter.

We don’t have any information regarding the processor or the battery, but the model number of D5103, assigned to a mysterious smartphone from Sony, was seen on the benchmark database and we’re guessing that the 720p display and the Snapdragon 400 processor running on KitKat OS might happen to be the specs of the Xperia G.

The Xperia Z1 has a 5inches Triluminos display screen with 1080x1920pixels and 441ppi, it’s dust and water proof, has a quad-core 2.2GHz Krait 400 processor running on a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset with Adreno 330 graphics, the rear camera is 20.7MP and the battery is Li-Ion non-removable, with the capacity of 3000mAh battery.
