Samsung Galaxy S5 Vs Nexus 5 – Specs, Camera & Features

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is the latest flagship phone from the Samsung brand and is now available in stores. Despite the huge expectations of this phone, it looks like a minor upgrade from its predecessor the Galaxy S4. Also, the Nexus 5 from Google was recently introduced into the market and has been billed as the best competition for the Galaxy S5. Is the Galaxy S5 better or inferior to the Nexus 5? Read on to find out.

The Sizes

The Samsung Galaxy S5 measures 8.1x142x73mm while the Nexus 5 measures 8.6x138x69mm. There is not much difference between these two phones. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is at least 3% longer than the Nexus and also 6% wider. However, the Nexus is a bit thicker than the Galaxy S5.

The Weight

The Samsung Galaxy S5 weighs 145g, which makes it slightly heavier by 15g than the Nexus 5 which weighs 130g. Notably, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is also heavier than its predecessor, the Galaxy S4.Even so, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is still easy on the hand and is portable.

The Build

The Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Nexus 5 come in plastic covers. The Samsung Galaxy has maintained the dimpled leather back cover look, which is common with other Samsung flagship phones. The Nexus comes in a simple matte finish while the Samsung has a faux leather exterior.

The Colors

The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes in a wider color variety than the Nexus 5. You can get the Galaxy S5 in black, white, copper and blue colors while the Nexus is only available in black, white and red. Whichever color you go for, they all look great.

The Display

The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a 5.1 inch screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 which makes 432ppi. The Nexus 5 comes up short in this category as it does not have a fingerprint scanner.

The Cameras

The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a 16MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. On the other hand, the Nexus 5 comes with an inferior 8MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front camera.
