Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs LG G2 vs Optimus G Pro – Best Prices and Top Specs Comparison

In this article we’re comparing three phones that were launched last year and are still riding the waves of glory. In case you’re interested in buying one of these devices, you’d better take a look at their specs and features and only after analyzing them carefully, you’ll come up with the best decision.

Displays and sizes

Although all three smartphones are capable of rendering a resolution of 1080x1920pixels, the G2 has the smallest display, which is a True HD-IPS + LCD screen measuring 5.2inches, and it supports the highest pixel density 0 424ppi. This phone is also the lightest, weighting 143grams and its dimensions are 138.5×70.9×8.9mm.

Next in line is the Optimus G Pro, with a 5.5inches True Full HD IPS Plus LCD screen that supports 401ppi. This device is 29grams heavier than the LG phone and it measures 150.2×76.1×9.4mm.

As for the Galaxy Note 3, the phablet has a Super AMOLED screen measuring 5.7inches and has a pixel density that stands at 386ppi. The dimensions of this device are 151.2×79.2×8.3mm and it’s pretty heavy – 168grams, because it comes with an S Pen stylus.

The Galaxy Note 3 has a screen protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, while the LG and the Optimus handsets have a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protecting their displays.

Hardware and OS

The Samsung phablet is more powerful than its opponents, being equipped with a 2.3GHz quad core processor which teams up with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and an Adreno 330 GPU. The chipset supports 3GB of RAM and an internal storage that comes in three variants – 16 and 32GB which can be expanded up to 64GB, plus another 64GB variant. The phone comes from the factory with Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) OS, but in the meantime, it received the 4.4.2 (KitKat) update.

The G2 has the same quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, but the processor is clocked at 2.26GHz and it’s a Krait 400 which couples with an Adreno GPU and 2GB of RAM. There are two variants of internal memories you can choose from: 16 and 32GB, but they’re unexpandable. This phone came with Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), and now it’s running on v4.4.2 (KitKat).

The Optimus G pro has under its hood a 1.7GHz quad core Krait 300 processor, the chipset is inferior, Qualcomm APQ8064T Snapdragon 600 and the GPU is an older Adreno version – 320. The ROM + RAM combination of this phone is 16/32GB – expandable up to 62GB + 2GB of RAM and the phone comes with Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean), but it’s planned to receive the 4.4.2 (KitKat) update.

Cameras

All three smartphones have 13MP cameras on their backs and have mutual features such as autofocus, LED flash, face detection, geo tagging etc. Note 3’s camera is better because it has extra features such as dual shot and simultaneous HD video and image recording. The Samsung device has another 2MP camera on the front, while the LG handsets have 2MP secondary shooters.

Batteries

It’s very important to know what the battery life of your favorite device is. So, the Note 3 and the G Pro withstand longest thanks to their Li-Ion 3200mAh and Li-Ion 3140mAh batteries, while the non-removable Li-Po battery of the G2, which has a capacity of 3000mAh, lasts 17hours and a half when talking on 3G. Its rivals allow you to talk 21hours.

Prices

The pricing for the 16GB 4G variant of the Note 3 is 600 dollars on amazon.com. The G2 16GB variant costs 385 dollars and the 16Gb variant of the G Pro is 10 dollars more expensive.
