Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs Ascend P6 vs Ascend Mate – Best Prices and Specs Comparisons

The Galaxy Note 3 faces two opponents from Huawei, the Ascend P6 and the Ascend Mate models – the second one is huge, so probably the ladies won’t consider it their first option when buying a new phone. But the Huawei devices are much cheaper than the Samsung phablet and their designs aren’t bad either.

Displays and sizes

In terms of screen sizes, the Ascend P6 is the smallest one, with a 4.7inches IPS+ LCD display that supports a resolution of 720x1280pixels and 312ppi. The other Huawei device is extremely massive, having an IPS+ LCD display with the size of 6.1inches, but which renders the same resolution. Only the pixel density is smaller, 241ppi. The Note 3 has a Super AMOLED display which measures 5.7inches and it’s also a phablet, but the the resolution is higher – 1080x1920pixels and the pixel density stands at 386ppi.

The Note 3 has its screen protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and it weights 168grams, while the Ascend P6 and Ascend Mate have screens covered by Corning Gorilla Glass, while they’re weighting 120grams and 198grams respectively.

Hardware and OS

The Note 3 is extremely powerful, having under its hood a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset supporting a quad core 2.3GHz Krait 400 processor and an Adreno 330 GPU. This amazing phablet has 3GB of RAM and comes loaded with Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) OS, but it received the 4.4.2 (KitKat) update for a better user experience. The device hosts three variants of built in storage – 16 and 32GB, expandable up to 64GB and another variant with the capacity of 64GB.

The Ascend P6 and the Ascend Mate both have a quad core 1.5GHz Hisilicon K3V2 CPU from Huawei and have 2GB of RAM. The first model has 8 and 16GB of internal storage, and the single SIM version allows expansion up to 32GB. The Ascend Mate has an internal memory of 8GB, but if you add a microSD card, you get up to 64GB. The Android version of OS for the Ascend P7 is 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), but it’s planned to receive the 4.4 (KitKat) version. As for the Ascend Mate, the phablet comes preloaded with a much older version, 4.1 (Jelly Bean), which is upgradable only to v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean)

Cameras

The Note 3 beats the other two Huawei devices with the rear camera, whose resolution is 13MP, while the secondary camera is 2MP. The Ascend P7 and the Ascend Mate have 8MP cameras on the back, and the facing shooters are 5MP and 1Mp respectively. All three smartphones have cameras with autofocus and LED flash, but only the Note 3 is capable of shooting 4K videos.

Batteries

The Ascend P7 has the weakest battery with 2000mAh, which withstands 14hours and a half when talking on 3G. The 3200mAh battery of the Note 3 delivers 21hours of talktime on 3G, while the monster Ascend Mate comes with a non-removable 4050mAh battery which offers 23hours of talktime on 3G.

Prices

The 32GB 4G variant of the Note 3 can be purchased from amazon.com at the price of 550 dollars. The Ascend P7 16GB variant costs 419 dollars, while the Ascend Mate is priced at 300 dollars.
