Samsung Galaxy Grand S Duos 2 vs Nokia Lumia 625 – Top Specs and Price Comparison

One of the phones was released in November 2013 and the other one was announced earlier, in July. They’re not the fastest smartphones on the market, but they’re a good deal for those who don’t want to invest a lot of money on a phone. They have cameras above mediocre and batteries with a modest lifetime. The question is: which one has better specs and features? You’ll find your answer in this article.

Displays, designs and sizes

The Galaxy Grand S Duos 2 has almost the same dimensions as its predecessor, being 0.1mm thicker than the Grand S Duos. So, the Grand S Duos 2 is measuring 121.5×63.1×10.6mm and it weights 118grams, it has a 4inches TFT display with a resolution of 480x800pixels and 233ppi. The Lumia 625 is overshadowed with its 199ppi, rendering the same resolution of 480x800pixels on its 4.7inches IPS LCD screen. It weights 41grams more than the Samsung handset and it measures 133.3×72.3×9.2mm. Also, it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and comes in five variants of shades: white, black, yellow, bright green and orange. The Grand S Duos 2 is available in black and white shades.

Hardware and OS

The Galaxy Grand S Duos 2 is powered by a 1.2GHz dual core Cortex A9 processor, having a BCM 28145/28155 chipset and using a Broadcom VideoCore IV GPU. The internal memory is of 4GB and with a microSD card you can get up to 64GB. The Lumia 625 has 8GB of built in storage, also expandable up to 64GB, but it’s powered by a 1.2GHz dual core Krait CPU, which teams up with a Qualcomm MSM8930 Snapdragon chipset and has an Adreno 305 GPU.

While the Galaxy Grand S Duos 2 is running on the Android platform – v4.2 (Jelly Bean) with 768MB of RAM, the Lumia 625 has only 512MB of RAM and it comes loaded with Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS, which is upgradeable to the 8.1 version.


Both of the handsets sport rear cameras of 5MP which have many features in common: 2592х1944pixels, autofocus, geo tagging and LED flash. The difference is that the Lumia 625 has in addition touch focus and the video recording capability is at 1080p@30fps, while the Samsung model records at 720p@30fps. Also, both of the smartphones have VGA cameras.


The Grand S Duos 2’s battery is removable and it’s a Li-Ion with the capacity of 1500mAh, which allows up to 8hours of talk time on 3G. The Lumia 625 has a non-removable Li-Ion battery with a higher capacity – 2000mAh (BP-4GWA), which allows you to talk over 15 hours on 3G.


The Grand S Duos 2 is cheaper than the Nokia smartphone. It costs 142 dollars and it can be bought from The Lumia 625 is priced at 220 dollars.
