The most annoying thing about Apple’s products is the ridiculously high price. Normally, after a while, every smartphone or tablet gets price cuts, so everyone could afford to buy them, but Apple’s older iPhones are still very expensive. For example, the iPhone 4S, which was launched in 2011, is 30 dollars more expensive than the Grand 2, which was released in 2014.
Displays and sizes
The Galaxy Grand 2’s display is TFT and has a bigger size – 5.25inches. It’s capable of supporting a resolution of 720x1280pixels, while the pixel density sits at 280ppi. iPhone 4S’s screen is 3.5inches (LED-backlit IPS LCD), but the resolution is lower at 640x960pixels and the pixel density is a lot higher – 330ppi. Also, the display is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass for protection against scratches.
The Grand 2 is heavier, weighting 163grams, while the iPhone 4S is 23grams lighter. The Samsung handset measures 146.8×75.3×8.9mm, while the Apple model is narrower and thicker, measuring 115.2×58.6×9.3mm.
Hardware and OS
Internally, the Galaxy Grand 2 is equipped with a quad core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor, based on a Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset and coupled with an Adreno 305 GPU and 1.5GB of RAM. The built in storage is of 8GB, but adding a microSD card can help you expand it up to 128GB. This phone has accelerometer, proximity and compass sensors and it runs on the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) OS, which is upgradable to the 4.4.2 (KitKat) version.
The iPhone 4S has only 512MB of RAM and it runs on a dual core 1GHz Cortex-A9 processor (Apple A5 chipset + PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU) and has in addition a gyro sensor. The operating system is iOS 5, which is upgradable to iOS 7.1.2 and this fall will be upgraded to iOS 8. The internal memory is fixed at 8/16/32/64 GB.
Cameras
The Grand 2 has an 8MP back camera, just like the iPhone 4S, but the features are slightly different. The mutual features are: 3264x2448pixels, autofocus, LED flash, geo tagging, face detection, touch focus and video recording at 1080p@30fps; Grand 2’s camera has in addition smile detection and image stabilization, while iPhone 4S’s camera offers panorama, HDR photo, 1/3.2” sensor size and1.4 µm pixel size. The secondary camera of the Grand 2 is 1.9MP, while the iPhone 4S has a VGA front camera.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 sports an 8 MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash. The secondary camera on the device is 1.9 MP. The iPhone 4S sports an 8 MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash. The secondary camera on the device is a VGA camera.
Batteries
Galaxy Grand 2’s battery is user replaceable, Li-Ion, with a capacity of 2600mAh, which allows up to 17hours of talktime on 3G. The iPhone 4S has a non-removable Li-Po 1432mAh battery, with which you can talk only 8hours on 3G.

The Galaxy Grand 2 4G LTE variant costs 295 dollars on amazon.com. The iPhone 4S 16GB variant is priced at 325 dollars on the same website.
