OnePlus One vs HTC One E8 – Top Comparison of Price, Features and Specs

Both the OnePlus One and the HTC One E8 are great options to consider when searching for a new smartphone to buy. They are affordable handsets which show off some interesting features. Let’s take a closer look at both their specs to figure out which one is the best buy.

Display, Exterior and Size

The OnePlus One is equipped with a LTPS LCD display measuring 5.5 inches that can render a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The pixel density of this handset sits at 401 pixels per inch. As for design, we are met with a magnesium exterior case. The device comes in three interesting choices when it comes to the case: denim, bamboo and Kevlar. The smartphone weighs 162 grams and comes with a thickness of 0.35 inches.

The HTC One E8 comes with a Super LCD3 display which is smaller than its counterpart’s, measuring 5.0 inches. The screen resolution is the same, of 1080 x 1920 pixels, but the pixel density is actually higher at 441 pixels per inch. The One E8 is made of plastic, the handset always being referred to as the plastic version of the HTC One M8. Seeing how the One M8 is made out of magnesium and it weighs 160 grams, the fact that HTC decided to build the One E8 out of plastic also had an effect on the weight, making it lighter by 15 grams. The thickness of this handset sits at 0.39 inches, which makes it thicker than the OnePlus One.

Hardware, Software and Memory

The processor that powers the OnePlus One is a Krait 400: quad core working at 2.5 GHz which is paired up with the Snapdragon 801 chipset from Qualcomm. The device supports 3 GB of RAM and it can be purchased with two options of internal storage: 16 GB and 64 GB (there is no microSD card slot, meaning that the memory is not expandable). The operating system for this handset is the Android 4.4.2 KitKat which is combined with the CyanogenMod 11S user interface.

The HTC One E8 is actually powered by the same processor + chipset combination. This device supports 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory (if you choose to use a microSD card, you can expand this memory by up to 128 GB). The operating system the HTC One E8 runs on is Android 4.4.2 KitKat combined with the HTC Sense 6 user interface.

Camera and Battery

The OnePlus One and the HTC One E8 seem to have the same specs when it comes to camera: a 13 MP primary camera and a 5 MP secondary camera. The sole difference between the two would be that the HTC One E8 comes with just LED flash support, while the OnePlus One comes with dual LED flash.

As for battery unit, the most powerful one is held by the OnePlus One: a Li-Ion model with a capacity of 3100 mAh. The battery unit seen on the HTC One E8 is also a Li-Ion model with a capacity of 2600 mAh.
