Nokia Lumia 625 vs. Micromax Canvas 3D A115 – Interface and Functionality Compared

Recently, homegrown brands have been making news in the smartphone arena.

Local brands have released a plethora of similar looking Android based smartphones in the market. As a result, it has become difficult for the manufacturers to distinguish their products from the smartphone competition. However, in the present times, upgraded hardware and software optimization has been the order of the day for these software companies. Micromax has been contemplating on gimmicks to promote their Canvas 3D A115 smartphone. The point to ponder upon is, whether the Micromax smartphone compatible with 3D, is a good enough reason to purchase the phone.

Nokia is yet another company, which has recently produced superior Windows Phones in their Lumia series. Let us compare the two smartphones, with respect to their interface and functionality.

Interface and Functionality

Nokia Lumia 625 is a Windows Phone that comprises of the version 8 GDR2 operating system, having Amber update, which is very similar to the one found on all Lumia series handsets. However, the platform has not advanced in the recent past. Regardless, the phablet offers the users with two home screen panels. The first panel consists of Live Tile-filled screen and second panel consists of an upright list of all applications, arranged with their icon and name.

The Lumia 625 comes equipped with a plethora of unique apps, aiming to enrich the user experience. The smartphone comprises of three notable features – HERE Maps, Nokia Music and Nokia Smart Camera.

With respect to customization, WP8 enables the user with the ability to change the color and size of Live Tiles. The easy platform designed by Microsoft goes only this far. However, it lacks Android’s sophistication and unified notification center.

The smartphone offers necessary functionality to the user. The display offered by all Windows Phones afford superior and accurate texting, because of the on-screen keyboard.

In comparison, the Micromax Canvas 3D A115 smartphone, runs on the Android version 4.1.2 operating system that enables the user with a smooth performance. The company has equipped the smartphone with a plethora of enhanced features that might not be everyone’s cup of tea. The most notable feature is the addition of a committed 3D Space launcher, which would enable the user to change the carousel interface. The interface has been optimized for 3D utilization. The launcher caters the user with swift access to a video player, 3D gallery and YouTube. In addition, the common suspects such as the Micromax application store and games could also be accessed with ease.

However, the 3D customization can be extended to lock screen, enabling the user to access the 3D carousel directly. The users would also appreciate swift access toggles, sported by the notifications hub.

Overall, the company might have introduced the formula, but did not make enough changes to the smartphone’s interface.

Processor

In terms of the processor, the Lumia 625 is powered by a dual core Snapdragon S4 chipset, running at a speed of 1.2GHz. The smartphone comes with a RAM of 512MB only. In addition, the Adreno 305 graphic processor also powers the smartphone.

In comparison, a dual core MTK6577chip powers the Micromax smartphone, clocked at a speed of 1.2GHz. The smartphone comes with similar 512MB RAM, as that of Lumia 625.
