Much Anticipated iPhone 6 Set for September 9 Launch

The iPhone 6 has been one of the trending topics in the last few months.

The iPhone 5S may have set new standards in terms of speed and attractive design, but it still lags substantially behind the android smartphone rivals. It is primarily because of a smaller display. Apple’s late founder Steve Jobs was not keen on expanding the screen size beyond 3.5 inches since he reckoned that it would spoil the portability aspect of the mobile phone.

Display

Apple, however, successfully showed with the iPhone 5 that they could take the screen size beyond 3.5 inches and still retain the compactness of the device. The iPhone 5 featured a 4-inch display when it was launched in September 2012. Even though it looked like Apple had finally rectified its niggling issue, rivals like Samsung and HTC have since moved on to 5+ inch screen sizes. Their immense popularity has shown that the bulkiness has not affected sales.

The iPhone 6, as a result, will be looking to compete directly with smartphones by coming with a 4.7-inch display. It is also heavily rumored that a 5.5 inch model could also be announced a little later. Apple usually comes out with a new iPhone model every 12 months and the iPhone 6 is due right now. However, industry sources predict that the phone may not be launched until after the IFA 2014. It is rumored that September 9 will see the introduction of the new iPhone 6. The 5.5-inch model could come out later in January.

Unlike the likes of Samsung and HTC, Apple will be able to provide this improved display by virtue of reducing the bezels. The phone also is likely to be slightly elongated rather than stretched across the side. This is often the culprit towards making your phone cumbersome for one-handed usage. Despite featuring a 4-inch display, the iPhone 5 retained the ability to access the entire phone with just one hand.

Camera

The iPhone 6 is expected to come with a much better 13-megapixel camera compared to the eight megapixels that has been found in iPhones of late. This 13-megapixel camera should feature 4K video recording. If not, it may be seen as a disappointment considering that Samsung debut at this aspect on the Galaxy S5 several months ago while the Sony Xperia Z2 is also a phone that can record such high-resolution videos.

Processor

Even though iPhone 5S has never been plagued by performance issues, it is certain that the iPhone 6 will feature the new generation A8 processors. There is speculation that it could be a dual core 2 GHz unit, thus disappointing fans who would have been hoping for a quad core processor. The iPhone 6 could also come with NFC support. There have also been suggestions that Apple may replicate Samsung and Sony by offering water resistant features.

The iPhone 6 could command a price of around $800 for the base versions when it is launched.
