Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain Confirmed For PC

The PC community could rejoice now, because it has been officially confirmed that the two games in the series, Metal Gear Solid 5 Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are officially coming to the Windows platform through Steam.

The publishers made the announcement with a unique approach, where a Steam box was shown to be lying around in the MGS world. It is even more surprising to know that the cardboard box will be part of the game and players can choose to use it, God knows in what scenario!

Official Website Announcement

When the official announcement of Metal Gear Solid 5’s release on PC was found in Konami website, people were skeptical. Some assumed that it could be just a hoax while others opined this wouldn’t make it to the platform, anytime in the near future. It was a bit of a tough decision to make, but as expected, during the Konami live stream, as part of the Gamescom event, the company confirmed their decision to bring the titles to the PC platform. It is unclear as to why so many games are being forced out of PCs and being made console exclusives. The reason could be the fact that Sony and Microsoft want to sell their consoles, because if they miss the current season, they would never make it to the end line with a good audience database.

Early Leak

Even before Konami could come up and make the announcement, the news got leaked. The media spurred with action but it was only a matter of hours before the official word from the company made its way to the public. Previously, Metal Gear Solid 5 was only confirmed for Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360. Hideo Kojima later added PC to the list and given the new releases of graphic cards from AMD, as well as Nvidia around the corner, it is going to be a visually impressive outing for sure.

The confirmed news of Metal Gear Solid 5 Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain are now officially up and live, on the UK Konami website. They not only made this announcement but also confirmed the release date for the popular soccer title Pro Evolution Soccer, PES 2015. The studio is busy making announcements one after the other and it is definitely an eventful Gamescom expo. Every developer and publisher utilized the event to the maximum, which made sure that the German event got as much attention as E3 this year.

However, Metal Gear Solid 5 is the only game that has been confirmed to arrive on PC. Titles like Destiny and the Rise of the Tomb Raider aren’t going to make the cut, because they are being held as console exclusives for some reason or the other. Square Enix was glad to accept Microsoft into their stable as the company would help them with the marketing and producing the game, whereas, other title developers look to join the bandwagon, as it would help reduce their stress of getting their titles out in the public.
