LG G Pro 2 vs G2 vs G Flex – Top Specs and Price Comparison

The G2 came in 2013 and the G Pro 2 – in 2014, which is a phablet. As for the G Flex, this is the first curved smartphone but only the exterior appearance separates it from its siblings. All three smartphones have identical hardware performance, the cameras have similar features. Only the batteries have different capacities. But let’s see which phone is better.

Displays and sizes

Between the three phones, the G Flex has the largest display, which is Curved P-OLED and sized at 6inches, but the resolution is 720x1280pixels with 245ppi, much lower than its siblings’ resolution of 1080x1920pixels supported by the 5.2inches True HD-IPS + LCD display of the G2 (424ppi) and 5.9inches True IPS+ LCD display of the G Pro 2 (373ppi).

The G2 and the G Flex have a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 on top of their screens to protect them against scratches, while the G Pro 2 features the new Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The G flex is the tallest phone, measuring 160.5×81.6×8.7mm and it’s the heaviest, as well – 177grams. It’s followed by the G Pro 2, which is weighting 172grams and measures 157.9×81.9×8.3mm and it’s the slimmest, while the thickest phone is the G2 – 138.5×70.9×8.9mm, although it’s the lightest – 143grams.

Hardware and OS

LG didn’t bother to play with combinations of processors and chipset and decided to equip all of these smartphones with a quad core 2.26GHz Krait processor, which is backed by a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset and they use Adreno 330 GPU.

The G2 and the G Flex have 2GB of RAM, while the G Pro 2 has 3GB of RAM and as for the internal memories, only the G Pro 2 allows expansion from 16/32GB to 64GB. The G2 has 16/32GB of internal storage, and the G Flex has only one variant of 32GB.

The G Pro 2 runs on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) OS, while both of the other phones come loaded with v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). However, the G2’s OS can be upgraded to v4.4.2 (KitKat). But, all three phones support 4G connectivity.

Cameras

All three LG phones come with 13MP cameras on the back and 2.1MP cameras on the front. The features are similar – autofocus, LED flash, simultaneous video and image recording, face detection, HDR, panorama, but the G Pro 2 and G2 have also optical image stabilization. Plus, the G Pro 2 records videos at 2160p@30fps and 720p@120fps, while the others record only at 1080p@60fps.

Batteries

The G Pro 2 has a user replaceable Li-Ion battery with the capacity of 3200mAh (14hours on 3G), while the other phones have Li-Po non removable batteries. The G Flex has a massive 3500mAh battery (15hours on 3G), while the G2 has a 3000mAh battery (17hours and 30minutes on 3G).

Prices

The pricing for G Pro 2 16GB variant is 400 dollars, while the 32GB variant can be found at 649 dollars on amazon.com. The G2 16GB costs 385 dollars and the 32GB variant is priced at 405 dollars. The G Flex costs 529 dollars.
