iPhone 5S vs. iPhone 5C – Processor, Memory, Interface and Other Functionalities Compared

For the first time in the history of Apple Incorporated, two smartphones were released simultaneously.

However, the decision was praised and criticized at the same time. Regardless, two iPhones in the market would provide the potential buyers with more choice. The earlier released iPhone 5S would now be doing business alongside its younger sibling, the iPhone 5C. Unsurprisingly, the iPhone 5S packs significant hardware enhancements in comparison to the newly released iPhone 5C smartphone. However, the iPhone 5C, coming at a cheap price, also packs a punch, which would give other smartphones a tough competition.

Let us compare the two smartphones from Apple, in terms of their processor, memory, interface and functionality.

Interface and Functionality

Apple Incorporated has been renowned for its consistency in smartphones. Both the iPhone 5S and 5C comes equipped with similar software, catering the user with a smooth and consistent smartphone experience. The upgraded iOS 7 runs both the 5S and 5C smartphones. The iOS 7 operating system livens up the iPhone smartphones. In fact, the visual presentation of the smartphone has not been changed since the introduction of the first iPhone. Both these smartphones do not differ in terms of functionality, multi-tasking accomplishments, Notification and Control Centers.

In terms of various organizer applications, both the iPhone 5S and 5C offer similar functions. However, the iPhone 5S comes equipped with a Touch ID fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint scanner offers the user with additional security benefits. Both the smartphones incorporate similar screen size and messaging experience. Both the smartphones come equipped with similar keyboard layouts, enabling the user with quick typing experience, due to its responsive and exceptional auto-correct features.

Processor and Memory

The similarity ends here in the processor segment. The iPhone 5S is a superior handset as compared to its sibling, the iPhone 5C. A unique Apple A7 processor, running at a speed of 1.3GHz powers the iPhone 5S smartphone. The uniqueness lies in the 64-bit architecture, which, along with the processor, powers the 5S handset. The 64-bit based processor is the first of its kind seen on the smartphone. The A7 processor of 5S beats the Apple A6 processor, running at a speed of 1.3GHz with ease. Regardless, both the smartphones exude similar performance in real time usage.

In terms of storage, the iPhone 5S offers more diversity to the potential buyer, as compared to the iPhone 5C smartphone. The iPhones 5S is readily available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants. In comparison, the iPhone 5C offers to its users, two variants with internal storage capacity of 16GB and 32GB.
