Today we’re comparing a few devices that act as their manufacturer’s flagship models. It’s been a long time since the HTC One 2014 was last considered a secret, as numerous leaks made sure everyone is expecting the device. The latest HTC endeavor, the One 2014 promises big things. On the other hand, LG’s pride, the LG G Pro 2, is taking a stand, also featuring some impressive hardware. These two, along with the LG G2, will be pitted against each other in this full-on comparison.d
Although all three devices have the same display resolution of 1920 x 1080, the screen sizes differ. The LG G Pro 2 comes out on top, with the largest screen, featuring a 5.9 inch display, while the LG G2 showcases a 5.2 inch display, and the HTC One 2014 trails last, with just 5 inches. In terms of graphics processing, all three have the same GPU, namely the Adreno 330, but when it comes to the processing power, the LG devices are relying on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad core processor, while the HTC One 2014 gets its power from the Snapdragon 801, thus having the edge.
Another feature that characterizes all three models is the internal memory capacity. All of them come in 16 and 32 GB versions, and the LG G2 is the only one that doesn’t feature support for a microSD card, so you’re stuck with the standard memory options.
Moving up to the camera, you can notice a major difference between the devices. The HTC smartphone has a total of three camera, on in the front, with 5 MP onboard, and two on the rear, both using the Ultrapixel technology. The phone is also equipped with dual LED Flash. The LG devices, on the other hand, come with a 2.1 MP front facing camera and a 13 MP rear lens. Although it may have only two cameras, the G Pro 2 features the OIS technology (Optic Image Stabiliziation) and is capable of recording 4k videos.
The three handsets come with the standard smartphone connectivity options which are available on pretty much any device nowadays, such as Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC and InfraRed (in some cases, depends on the market), USB, etc. The operating system driving these gadgets towards performance is Google’s Android KitKat in the case of the G Pro 2 and One 2014, and JellyBean for the LG G2.
Although claims coming directly from HTC, saying that the battery used for their One 2014 device is able to provide up to 40% more battery life than the previous HTC One, it’s still the battery with the smallest capacity out of the group, with 2600 mAh, while the LG G2 has 3000 mAh and the G Pro 2 has 3200 mAh.
Another category, another win for the LG G Pro, as this time, it comes out on top as being the largest, thinnest and lightest device of the bunch, with 8.3 mm and 143 grams. The HTC One 2014 is 9.4 mm thick and 160 grams heavy, while the LG G 2 is 8.9 mm thick and 172 grams heavy.
Conclusion
Which of these devices you get strongly depends on what you want from a smartphone. The only reason you would get the LG G2 is if you are looking for a cheap price to pay for a decent smartphone, while the HTC One 2014 would be your best choice if you are oriented towards camera quality, as the dual Ultrapixel camera combo can take 3D pictures.
