HTC Desire 616 vs Samsung Galaxy Avant – Comparing Specs and Price

The Galaxy Avant is an option for those who are looking for a cheap phone, but which doesn’t excel in hardware performance. This phone is freshly released, but its features are moderate, being impossible to beat the HTC Desire 616 which offers a better camera and a faster processor. But let’s find out more about these phones.

Displays and sizes

The HTC Desire 616 sports a 5inches display with Sense 5.5 UI on top of it. It’s capable of supporting a resolution of 720x1280pixels resolution and you’ll get a pixel density of 294ppi, meaning that you’ll have a decent brightness. The phone is 142mm tall, has a width of 71.9mm and a thickness of 9.2mm and it weights 150grams. The phone has accelerometer and proximity sensors.

The Samsung model has a 4.5inches display with a lower resolution – 540x960pixels and 245ppi, but don’t worry, you’ll have a great bright resolution.The dimensions of this phone are 132.9x66x9.9mm and it weights almost 137grams. Besides accelerometer and proximity sensors, the Galaxy Avant has a gyro sensor as well.

Hardware and OS

There is good news and bad news about HTC’s hardware performance. It’s equipped with a fast octa core 1.4GHz Cortex-A7 processor (Mediatek MT6592 SoC and Mali-450MP4 GPU), it hosts 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory (expandable up to 32GB), but it comes loaded with an old Android version – 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean).

The Galaxy Avant is running on v4.4.2 (KitKat) with 1.5GB of RAM, has a quad core 1.2GHz processor and 16GB of built in storage with the possibility to expand it up to 64GB.

Cameras

The HTC 616 has a more advanced primary camera with the capacity of 8MP and features such as autofocus, LED flash, HDR, simultaneous HD video and image recording etc. The video recording capability is at 1080p@30fps. There is also a 2MP front camera present.

If you don’t care much about the number of pixels of a camera, then the Galaxy Avant will meet your needs with its 5MP rear camera. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have auto focus among its features. The other camera is 2MP.

Batteries

The Desire 616 has a Li-Po 2000mAh battery which provides approximately 14hours of talktime on 3G. The Galaxy Avant has a Li-Ion 2100mAh battery which lasts 18hours when talking on 3G.

Prices

The HTC Desire 616 is priced at 273 dollars, while the Galaxy Avant is only 216 dollars and it’s available through T-Mobile.
