The Google Nexus 5 is manufactured by LG and comes to you directly from Google, offering some very high specs at a low price.
The HTC One M8 was officially announced sometime early this year and it had so many leaks prior to the announcement. Here is a comparison of the two.
The Nexus 5 measures 137.9mm X 69.2mm X 8.6mm, whereas the One M8 is slightly larger, measuring 146.4mm X 72.5mm X 8.1mm. As for the screen size, the Google Nexus 5 boasts a 4.95 inch screen while the One M8 has a 5.0 inch screen. So you do have a larger screen on the M8. The Nexus 5 has an IPS plus display while the M8 has a Super LCD3 display.
Resolution-wise, both smartphones have full 1920 x 1080p and there is a slight difference in terms of the pixel density, because of the marginal difference in screen size. This is a very minor difference in pixel density and the fact that they both have full HD pixels makes the difference barely noticeable.
The HTC One M8 is also slightly heavier at 160grams, compared to the Nexus 5’s 130 grams. As for the build, the Nexus 5 comes with a soft touch plastic that is also quite comfortable to hold. The M8 has been made using more premium material – it has an aluminum unibody design (it is 90% metal) that gives it a premium look.
The Google Nexus 5 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2.3GHz Quad-Core. The M8 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, 2.3GHz processor and both have an Adreno 330 GPU. Both devices also have the same amount of RAM (2GB), which makes them great for multi-tasking. In terms of storage, they both have the 16GB and 32GB versions. The Nexus 5 does not have expandable storage, but the M8 does, of up to 128GB.
The Nexus 5 has an 8 megapixel camera and the M8 has a 4 Ultrapixel camera. The Nexus 5 does have the optical image stabilization feature, something the M8 does not have. The interesting thing on the M8 is the dual camera at the back. The extra camera measures depth data and allows you to re-focus later on. As for video, the M8 has 1080p@30fps and the Nexus 5 has a 1080p at 30 frames per second. As for the front facing camera, the Nexus 5 has 1.3 megapixels capable of filming 720p HD, while the M8 has an amazing 5 megapixel front facing camera, capable of filming 1080p HD.
