Asus is trying to specialize in smartphones, too, but there’s a long way to the top. The ZenFone 5 is a great phone, but not as great as other rivals, such as Nexus 5. But we’re comparing them, just in case you’re interested in buying one of them.

Hardware and OS
The Zenfone 5 is powered either by a dual-core processor clocked at 2GHz, or a dual-core clocked at 1.6GHz, based on an Intel Atom chipset, and it uses a PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU. It has accelerometer, proximity and compass sensors, two variants of internal memories – 8 and 16GB, expandable up to 64GB and 1GB or 2GB of RAM, depending on the version. Also, it runs on the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) OS, which is upgradeable to v4.4.2 (KitKat).
The Nexus 5 has a more powerful processor, which is quad core Krait 400, clocked at 2.3GHz, but the chipset is Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 and the GPU is Adreno 330. The phone has in addition gyro and barometer sensors, but the internal memories at fixed at 8 and 16GB. The device is running on a newer Android version, 4.4 (KitKat), but it can be upgraded to v4.4.4 (KitKat), and it has 2GB of RAM.
Both devices have rear cameras of 8MP, but the Nexus 5 has more features (optical image stabilization, touch focus, face detection, HDR, photo sphere and dual recording). Also, both of the cameras record videos at 1080p@30fps. The secondary camera on the Zenfone 5 is 2MP, while the Nexus 5 has a weaker front camera – 1.3MP.
Both of the devices are equipped with Li-Po non removable batteries, but the Zenfone 5’s battery has a lower capacity – 2110mAh. Even though, it lasts 18 hours and a half when talking on 3G. The Nexus 5’s battery, on the other hand has 2300mAh, but it lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes lesser.
