The Galaxy Grand Duos phone has achieved tremendous success for Samsung and now they are releasing its successor – the Samsung Grand 2 Duos.
Most people expect this new version of Samsung Duos to outdo its predecessor in terms of specs and performance. The new version brings changes and enhancements from the first model, but it is also a bit pricier.
Whenever a new phone version is introduced, there is always a question on whether it will outdo its predecessor in performance and features.
So, is the Samsung Grand 2 Duos better than its predecessor?
When the Samsung Grand Duos was released, it somewhat resembled the Samsung Galaxy S3. Samsung took up the same style when designing the Samsung Galaxy S4 and now the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Duos. This phone weighs the same as its predecessor at 163g, but comes in a thinner frame that measures 8.9mm. The plastic surface of Grand 2 Duos is smaller and is replaced with a 5.2 inch screen. The phone is made of plastic with an above average build quality that gives it a solid look.
The rear side is made of faux-leather which is no surprise as is the case with most Samsung phones. The phone has two sim card slots and a microSD slot. The back side also carries the speaker and a 2600mAh battery.
The Performance and Specs
This phone works just fine, but it can be a bit sluggish. This is quite weird since it comes with a 1.5GB RAM with a memory of 4GB that can be expanded up to 64GB. The screen looks much better than that of its predecessor. It comes with a TFT screen with a 720x280p resolution, which offers excellent readability. This makes the screen size the best feature on the Grand 2 Duos. The screen’s sensitivity is good and the colors are natural.
This phone has an Android 4.3 operating system that comes with TouchWiz interface. This OS comes with the multi window feature and supports third party apps. It also comes with Story Album, Group Play, S Voice, S Translator as well as a voice recorder.
The Grand 2 Duos phone comes with a camera that has the same specs as that of its predecessor. The camera boasts an 8MP resolution, which is generally above average. You get to experience the phone’s camera potential in Macro Mode where it can capture a lot of detail. Taking outdoor photos with this camera is a breeze.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Duos phone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm 400 SoCsnapdragon processor. In comparison, the SoC is faster than the dual-core chip used in the Grand Duos.
The video and music player are quite competent offering a great experience. The music player has lyrics support and also comes with other great effects such as Adapt sound, Tube amp effects, the EQ presets and so much more. Also, the video player supports numerous formats, including MKV.
The Samsung Grand 2 Duos goes for $366.105 in the US. Considering the specs and performance, this phone is worth the deal. The battery life can go for two days on normal use making it ideal for people who are constantly on the go.
