While it is impossible for smartphone manufacturers to know what size of smartphones appeals to different market audiences, Samsung has gone an extra mile to ensure they cover all bases. The Samsung’s line of smartphones is one that has phones in almost all screen sizes, making it easy for them to cater to different user preferences. However, they also go further to ensure that each Samsung smartphone or tab release comes with a feature that sets it apart from its predecessor.
The Samsung Galaxy tab 3 10.1 is one of the devices under the Samsung brand. This is a 10.1 inch stylus powered tab.
The Size and Build
With a 10.1 inch screen, it is a good sized tablet. It is easy on the hand, as it is lightweight and slim. It is available in white and gold colors. The 10.1 inch screen has a large display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. This gives it the same resolution as that in its 8 inch predecessor. While it has the ability to display content in HD, most of its rival 10 inch tablets have the ability to display full 1080 content. However the TFT display in the Samsung tab 3 is bright and nice and is large enough to allow dual-view mode which makes multitasking easy.
The tab’s overall design is created well enough for prolonged usage. This tab weighs 510g, making it lighter than its predecessor. It is also at least 2mm slimmer, as it measures 7.95mm in thickness. The tab comes with no sharp corners or hard edges that make it comfortable to hold while using.
You will also notice that the faux-chrome edges, that border the display, are minimized. This makes the bezels narrower, mostly on the shorter ends.
The Hardware
This tablet comes with a dual core processor with 1GB RAM making it a mid-level performance tab. This tablet has an internal memory of 16GB, but comes with an SDcard slot which can accommodate up to 64GB external memory. There is a rear camera with 3MP resolution while the front camera has 1.3MP camera which makes video calling a breeze.
The Operating System and Connectivity
Like all other Galaxy products, the Galaxy tab 3 runs on an Android OS, specifically the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The tab also comes with the TouchWiz user interface overlay. Other features included are the Readers Hub, Music Hub and the S Translator among other features.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is Wi-Fi enabled but does not support 3G connectivity. It comes with a Wi-Fi direct and also supports the 802.11a/b/g/n 2.4 + 5 GHz. It also includes MHL and DLNA support.
The Battery Life
The 10.1 inch Samsung Galaxy tab is quite impressive. It comes with a battery of 6800mAh, which is claimed to keep you connected for up to 9 hours of usage time with Wi-Fi on. It comes with longer standby battery time.
The Price
The Samsung Galaxy 3 10.1 tab retails at approximately $399.
Conclusion
The Samsung Company has not done much to make the Galaxy 3 10.1 tab significantly different from its predecessor. As they focus more on the Galaxy Note series, the Galaxy 3 tab is no different from the Galaxy 2 tab, which was only modestly upgraded from the Galaxy 1 tab.
