Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Nexus 6 – Top Specs and Price Comparison

Samsung already released a lot of awesome devices in 2014, and Galaxy S5 can be considered one of the best smartphones from the market. The Nexus 6 will be released this fall, in October or November, but we know how it will look like, on the outside and on the inside as well. Both of these phones are water-dust resistant and have fingerprint scanners. Plus, they both support NFC.

Displays and Designs

The Google Nexus 6 is expected to come with a massive 5.5inches 2K display which will support an incredible screen resolution of 2,560×1,440pixels and a pixel density of 534ppi. The Galaxy S5 has a 5.1inches screen that renders a resolution of 1,080×1,920pixels and supports 432ppi.

The Galaxy S5 has a back cover made of brushed metal and has some perforated (dotted) design. The Nexus 6 will come with aluminum edges and thin bezels, and it’s going to be water & dust resistant.

Hardware and OS

The Galaxy S5’s processor is clocked at 2.5GHz and it’s a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) Krait 400. The Nexus 6 will feature a superior processor – Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, also quad-core, but clocked at 2.7GHz. In concordance with KnowYourMobile, the Nexus 6 is speculated to come with a quad-core MT6732 64-bit chip (clocked at 1.5GHz), or with an octa-core MT6752 SoC (clocked at 2GHz).

So, the S5 is running on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS with TouchWiz UI and 2GB of RAM. The Nexus 6 will run on the Android 5.0 (Android L) with 3GB of RAM.

As for the internal memories, both of the devices will come in two variants: 16 and 32 GB and you can expand the internal storage up to 128GB on the S5. The Google Nexus 6 will probably follow this trend.

Cameras and Batteries

The Nexus 6 come with a 13MP rear camera (LED flash) and a 5MP front camera. The Galaxy S5 has a more advanced primary camera – 16MP primary camera with the same features, but the front camera is inferior – 2MP. The Galaxy S5’s camera shoots 4K (3,840×2,160p) videos.

The Galaxy S5 has a battery with the capacity of 2800mAh. The Nexus 6 will have a battery with a higher capacity – 3100mAh.

Prices

The Galaxy S5 4G, LTE, 16GB variant costs around 650 dollars on amazon.com. The Nexus 6 is expected to costs 655 dollars.
