Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 4S – Comparison of Features and Specifications

Both these companies are fighting it out to take the position of becoming a dominant smartphone maker. This competitive edge has made them top rivals in the mobile industry. Let us compare some of the top products of Samsung Electronics and Apple Inc. The iPhone 4S, released last year, became the first choice for a plethora of people. The smartphone fended off competition from various Android based devices. The Samsung released the Galaxy S3 that boasted a thinner, lighter design, powerful processor and bigger screen to attract potential customers from Apple.

Design and Display

Comparing the design and build, between the GS3 and the iPhone 4S, the latter has more points to gather. The iPhone may be smaller and heavier than the GS3; the smartphone is much elegant and stylish to look and feel, due to its metal and glass casing. In comparison to the iPhone 4S, the GS3 has a plastic body that makes it lighter, weighing just 133 grams. The iPhone weighs approximately 140 grams. The GS3 is lighter and thinner than the iPhone 4S; however, the latter is sturdy to hold and is pleasing to the eye. However, the GS3 with its curved thinner body also offers a good grip. The GS3 with its mighty 4.8 inch screen with 313 ppi in comparison to the 326 ppi of the iPhone 4S is not much of a difference. Therefore, streaming through pictures and watching movies on the big screen of the GS3 makes it more enjoyable experience. The iPhone 4S takes this round, with better design and build quality.

Performance

The internal specifications of the GS3 comprises of a quad core 1.4 GHz processor in comparison to the dual core CPU running at 800MHz. In terms of memory, the GS3 has a larger memory with 1GB RAM as compared to 512MB RAM of the iPhone 4S. However, the iPhone 4S is much smoother and responds quicker to simple commands than the GS3.

Operating System

The GS3, running on Android version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, has an intuitive task manager in comparison to the iPhone 4S. It is also easier to manage apps on the Galaxy S3. However, if you want to use the iPhone 4S or the GS3 for making and receiving calls the iPhone 4S is more comfortable to navigate, save contacts and make calls. The iOS is comfortable to operate as compared to Android technology.
