Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 vs iPad 5 – Price and Specs Comparison

Today, we have for you two great tablets: an improved Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition) and Apple’s fourth generation of Ipad. So, take a look at their specs and analyze them very carefully, because they’re expensive and you might regret later if you won’t take the best decision and buy the tablet that doesn’t suit you.
Displays

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 has a WQXGA Super Clear LCD display with the size of 10.1inches, as you already figured out. The resolution supported by this device is 2560x1600pixels and the pixel density is 299ppi. The iPad 5 with Retina display supports a lower resolution – 2048x1536pixels and 264ppi.

The Note 10.1 comes with a soft cloth and a metal bezel, and it’s more practical than its predecessor. Its dimensions 243.1×171.4×7.9mm, and it weights 535grams – the 3G version, 540grams – the Wifi version or 547grams – the LTE version. Also, the tablet features a Home, Back and Menu button on the bezel.

The iPad 5 looks a lot like the iPad Mini and it’s very pretty at the first view. It measures 240×169.5×7.5mm and it’s a lot lighter than the Note 10.1, weighting 469grams.

Hardware and OS

The Note 10.1 offers two variants of processors for the 3G/Wi-Fi or the 4G LTE models. So, the 3G/Wi-Fi models are powered by a Quad-core 2.3GHz Krait 400 CPU, while the other variant has a Quad-core 1.9GHz Cortex-A15& quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 CPU, and both of the models come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and 3GB of RAM.

The iPad 5 sports an Apple A7 chip, and it’s 31faster than the A6. The processor is dual-core 1.3GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based) and the device hosts 1GB of RAM DDR3.

Cameras

The Note 10.1 takes great pictures with its 8MP primary camera (3264x2448pixels, autofocus, LED flash) and for video calls, you can use the 1.2MP front camera. The Ipad 5 has a weaker primary camera – 5MP (2592×1944 pixels, autofocus) and the secondary camera is also 1.2MP.

Batteries

Both of the tablets have non-removable batteries, but of different capacities: the Note 10.1’s battery is Li-Po with 8220mAh, but you can use it for 10hours (multimedia). The same battery life has iPad 5’s Li-Po 8,820mAh battery.

Other specs

The Note 10.1 features the popular S Pen stylus, which was improved and reduced in size, and it can be stored horizontally. One of the coolest apps on the new tablet is “Samsung Content Gifts” and includes Samsung’s Autodesk Sketchbook, a better version of Twitter and some content from The New York Times.

The iPad 5 was rumored to come with a fingerprint scanner, but the fans were disappointed when their dream was ruined, so they’ll have to settle with the iPhone 5S’s fingerprint scanner.

Prices

The 32GB variant of the Note 10.1 2014 edition costs around 600 dollars, while the iPad 5 32GB variant can be found at the price of 540 dollars on amazon.com.
