Samsung Galaxy Grand vs. Lenovo Vibe X – Pricing and Specifications Compared

Samsung’s decision to place a large touch screen display in a mid-range smartphone proved a massive hit, as shown by the Galaxy Grand.

This phone sold in hot numbers across the world and it has formed the basis for several new smartphones in the last few months. The Lenovo Vibe X is a phone that provides an alternative solution for those looking to deviate from the mainstream smartphone offerings.

Design

One of the standout aspects of the Lenovo Vibe X is its design. At just 6.9 mm thick, it is one of the thinnest phones in the market. Even Samsung, which is known for its thin smartphones, cannot come close in this regard since the Galaxy Grand comes at 9.6 mm. There is also a substantial difference between the two phones in terms of weight with the Lenovo coming in at just 120 g compared to the 162 g of the Galaxy Grand.

Display

Screen size is similar on both phones, as they both use 5 inch display. However, the experience is drastically different because the Lenovo Vibe X offers a full HD resolution compared to the 480 x 800 pixels offered the Samsung device. This more than doubles the pixel density to a whopping 441 PPI. As a result, the images look much clearer and the Lenovo Vibe X offers a much better multimedia experience. Apart from offering a large display, the Galaxy Grand does not have much advantage in this regard.

Memory

The Galaxy Grand comes with the traditional feature of an external memory card slot along with a decent amount of internal memory, which is 8 GB in this specific instance. The Lenovo Vibe X may not offer external memory card support, but it comes with 16 or 32 GB internal memory offering that should prove more than sufficient.

Performance

The Samsung device cannot compete with the Lenovo Vibe X in terms of performance because the latter uses a quad core 1.5 GHz processor. This processor is assigned the task of running the android 4.2 operating system and it is supported by 2 GB of RAM. This represents a 100% increase over the amount of RAM present in the Galaxy Grand, which explains the reason for the Lenovo Vibe X being very smooth at multitasking. The Galaxy Grand also comes with a substantially lower rated dual core 1.2 GHz processor. Even though it initially came with the android 4.1 OS, it has since received updates to the 4.2 version.

Camera

Samsung offers the same eight megapixel camera found in most of the high-end phones from its portfolio, albeit without a number of features. Still, the ability to do full HD video recording and the presence of LED flash will be more than enough. The Lenovo Vibe X provides a 13 megapixel camera with a similar set of features. There is a front facing five megapixel camera compared to the two megapixel camera on the Galaxy Grand, which costs around $250. The Lenovo Vibe X is slightly more expensive at $310.
