Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos vs Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 – Specs and Features Comparison

Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 was announced in November 2013.

The device is available in the market since its release in January 2014.

After the successful launch of Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos, a pioneer in 5 inches display, the company followed it up with Galaxy Grand Quattro that could not deliver similar success. However, with the release of Galaxy Grand 2, Samsung is back with a bang. The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 promises to be better, bigger and quicker in every way.

The Grand 2 has drawn several comparisons with Galaxy Grand Duos. Find below a comparison between the two smartphones with regard to their features and specifications.

Display

The Grand 2 comes with a 5.2 inches display that is slightly bigger than the 5 inches display of the Galaxy Grand Duos. The difference in screen size is negligible, especially when both these smartphones come with a TFT capacitive multi touchscreen along with 16M colors. However, the Grand 2 has a better resolution at 720 x 1280 pixels and has a superior pixel density of 280-ppi. In comparison, the Grand Duos comes with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and a pixel density of 187-ppi. The Grand 2 offers superior pictures, colors and display.

Body and Weight

In dimensions, the Grand 2 is bigger than its counterpart, the Grand Duos. The Grand 2 stands 146.8mm tall and 75.3 mm wide when compared to the 143.5 mm height and 76.9 mm width of the Grand Duos smartphone. The Grand 2 is slimmer in thickness measuring 8.9 mm in comparison to the 9.6 mm of thickness of the Grand Duos. However, the Grand 2 weighs 163 grams, a gram more than the 162 grams weight of the Grand Duos.

Processor and Operating System

The Grand Duos comprises of Android version 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The device comes with a 1.2 GHz dual core Cortex A9 processor. In comparison, the Grand 2 consists of Android version 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. The 1.2 GHz quad core processor powers the Grand 2 smartphone.

Memory

The Grand Duos comes equipped with an internal memory of 8 GB, along with a RAM of 1 GB. The Grand 2 also comes with a similar internal memory of 8 GB. However, the RAM is slightly improved that comes at 1.5 GB. Both these smartphones come with an external microSD card slot to expand the memory up to 64 GB.

Battery

The Grand Duos comes equipped with a Li-Ion 2100 mAh battery unit in comparison to the Li-Ion 2600 mAh battery unit of the Grand 2. The latter offers longer standby and talk time with its powerful battery unit.

Pricing has always been an interesting feature with smartphones. It can make or break the smartphone in the market. However, Samsung has always been smarter in the pricing arena. Both these smartphones come at affordable prices.
