Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 vs LG G2 – Top Specs and Price Comparison

Samsung Galaxy Grand 2

The Galaxy Grand 2 was released as a sequel to the successful Galaxy Grand. The color variations in which it comes include black, white and pink. It comes fully equipped with impressive features and hardware components, and is, overall, a great device.

Design and Display

Its sleek, slim appearance is enhanced by the leather coating it bears on the back panel. On the front side, there is a 5.25 inch TFT multi touch, capacitive touch screen, capable of a 720 x 1280 maximum resolution, but has quite a low pixel density -280ppi-. The image on this device is actually crisp, however.

Hardware and Software

The hardware beneath the sleek appearance consists of a 1.2 GHz quad Snapdragon 400 unit, 1.5 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of internal memory to seal the deal. The internal memory can be upgrade by using a micro SD, giving you another 64 GB of extra storage space. It comes with Android Jelly Bean support and is also upgradeable to Android KitKat.

Camera and Battery

The front facing camera is more than decent, packing 1.9 MP, while the rear camera has 8 MP and can record videos at 1080 p quality. It comes with various features like LED flash, face detection, geo tagging and others. The battery last about 2 days and has the capacity of 2600 mAh.

LG G2

The LG G2 was released in September 2013 in various colors such as red, black, white and gold. It has fair combination of features and specifications, so let’s see if it’s enough to beat the Galaxy Grand 2.

Design and Display

The phone is water resistant and has its back covered in the same leather-type material, giving it a sleek look. On the front reigns the 5.2 inch display which uses True IPS LCD technology, at a maximum resolution of 1080 x 1920 and  a pixel density of 424 ppi . The display is overall crisp and beautiful, and it immediately grabs your attention.

Hardware and Software

A powerful 2.26 GHz quad core Snapdragon 800 processor is doing the heavy work here, helped by 2 GB of RAM. Internal memory is good, but could be better, as the device offers 16 and 32 GB variants, but no support for extra memory through an SD card. All these specifications make it eligible for the upgrade to Android KitKat, from Android JellyBean.

Camera and Battery

In the camera department, the G2 is rock solid, as it sports a 13 MP camera equipped with all kinds of features such as geo tagging, face detection, auto focus, image stabilization and HDR, not to mention the LED flash. You get a lot of power for this device, as it has a 3000 mAh battery that is supposed to last you 2 or 3 days of average usage.

Prices

On Amazon.com, the Galaxy Grand 2 is around  $300 and the LG G2 is around $390
