Whether you get bored of your old phone and you want to buy a new one, or your current phone crashes, one thing is for sure: you’ll check a number of smartphones and compare their specs and prices. So, our suggestions for you are the OnePlus One and the Xperia Z1.
Sony is famous for its extraordinary cameras and cool appliances, using the same high end technology that we find on the Bravia TVs. The Z1 is water, shatter and scratch resistant, so if you’re one of those careless phone owners who drop their devices on the ground, or in the water, don’t worry, because your smartphone will “survive” the accident.
Display and sizes
The OnePlus One is a phablet with a LTPS LCD display of 5.5inches which supports a resolution of 1080x1920pixels and 401ppi. The Xperia Z1’s display renders the same resolution, but it’s a TFT screen with the size of 5inches. This smartphone has a higher pixel density – 441ppi.
The dimensions of the OnePlus One are 152.9×75.9×8.9mm and it weights 162grams, while the Xperia Z1 is 8grams heavier and it measures 144x74x8.5mm.
Hardware and OS
The OnePlus One is faster than its opponent and its processor doesn’t consume the battery that fast. It’s powered by a Quad-core 2.5GHz Krait 400 CPU, coupled with a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset and Adreno 330 GPU. The Xperia Z1 features a Quad-core 2.2GHz Krait 400 processor, a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset and the same Adreno 330 GPU.
The OnePlus One has two variants of internal memories – 16 and 64GB, which can’t be expanded. The Xperia Z1 has 16GB of internal storage but its capacity is expandable up to 64GB.
The OnePlus One runs on the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) OS with 3GB of RAM, while the Xperia Z1 comes loaded with the Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS, but it’s expandable to the 4.4.4 (KitKat) version.
We can’t afford to criticize Xperia Z1’s 20.7MP rear camera which takes professional pictures. It has features such as 5248х3936pixels, autofocus, HDR, LED flash, panorama and it records videos 1080p@30fps. The camera on the front is 2MP. The OnePlus One has a 13MP primary camera with 4128x3096pixels, autofocus, HDR, dual-LED flash, panorama etc. and it records videos 2160p@30fps, 2160p(DCI)@24fps, 1080p@60fps and 720p@120fps. In addition, the secondary camera is 5MP.
Both of the phones have non-removable batteries. However, the OnePlus One has a Li-Po 3100mAh battery, while the Xperia Z1 comes with a Li-Ion 3000mAh battery.
The OnePlus One is equipped with a tri-microphone with noise cancellation, and this feature increases the voice clarity by up to 80%. Also, this model supports NFC, USB and Bluetooth.
The OnePlus One 16GB variant costs over 600 dollars, while the Xperia Z1 is priced at 425 dollars.
