Nokia XL vs LG Volt – Top Specs and Price Comparison

These phones were both released this May, but there’s a big difference between them. We thought Nokia will surprise us positively with the XL model, but this phone is way below the LG Volt’s specs and features.

Nokia XL

Display and Sizes

This Nokia model features a 5inches IPS LCD display with 16M colors, a resolution of only 480x800pixels and a low pixel density of 187ppi. For a smartphone of this range, it should support a much higher resolution, but it seems that Nokia didn’t bother to invest in another high end smartphone and proffered to release another… phone with nothing special about it! The display supports multitouch and it has light and proximity sensors. Continuing with the dimensions, the Nokia XL is measuring 141.4×77.7×10.9mm and it’s one of the heavy phones with a weight of 190grams.

Hardware and OS

This smartphone runs with a dual-core 1GHz Cortex-A5 processor, which is backed up by a Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 Play chipset and has an Adreno 203 GPU. The internal storage is of 4GB, which is expandable up to 32GB. The device comes loaded with Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) OS and has 768MB of RAM.

Camera

The rear camera is of 5MP and comes with features such as 2592х1944pixels, autofocus, LED flash, panorama, 1/4” sensor size, face detection and video recording capabilities at
480p@30fps. The phone also has a secondary camera of 2MP.

Battery

The Nokia XL is equipped with a Li-Ion 2000mAh battery (BN-02) which allows up to 13hours of talk time on 3G and it withstands 720hours on stand by mode.

Price

The Nokia XL is mostly available in India, at the price of 190 dollars.

LG Volt

Display and Sizes

The display of the LG model is slightly smaller, measuring 4.7inches. It’s also IPS LCD with 18M colors, but it supports a higher resolution – 540x960pixels and a higher pixel density – 234ppi. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2, so it’s resistant to scratches. Plus, it has the light and proximity sensors as well. The dimensions of the device are 131.6x66x10.4mm and it’s almost 54grams lighter.

Hardware and OS

This smartphone has a more powerful processor – quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7, which teams up with a Qualcomm MSM8926 Snapdragon 400 chipset and an Adreno 305 GPU. It hosts 8GB of internal memory – expandable up to 64GB + 1GB of RAM and it runs on the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) OS.

Camera

The rear camera this phone comes with is 8MP and has features such as 3264x2448pixels, autofocus, LED flash, HDR, geo tagging, panorama and video recording at 1080p@30fps. Also, there is a 1.3MP camera on the front.

Battery

The device is kept alive by a Li-Ion 3000mAh battery, which is considerably longer lasting that XL.

Price

The LG Volt can be bought from amazon.com at the price of 150 dollars. So, it’s cheaper and it offers high end quality.
