In April, this year, the technicians from Square Trade – which is a gadgets insurance company, tortured a bunch of smartphones to see which one has the best endurance when dropped on the ground or in water. Because, let’s be honest, some of us are careless and scenarios like these happen all the time and our phones are the ones that suffer. So, let’s see which of the four smartphones – Galaxy S5, Nexus 5, HTC One M8 or iPhone 5S did better at the endurance test.
So, these phones went through hell and the specialists measured them using criteria such as size, weight, water resistance, grip-ability, drop test, slide test etc, to see which one of them is the most unaffected survivor in situations such as falls, water damage or when sliding down the table.
If you thought that the Galaxy S5 will be the winner, you are wrong. This model is more durable than its predecessors, but not enough to beat Apple’s iPhone 5S. Ty Shay, the CMO of Square Trade, said that the iPhone 5s obtained the score of 5.5, being followed by the Galaxy S5 by half a point. In the drop test, on the third position we found the HTC One M8, but in the water test, it failed to impress, obtaining the score of 6.5. The Nexus 5, disappointed in both the drop and dunk tests, getting the score of 7.
So, according to the tests, the iPhone 5S is the most durable smartphone and the Nexus 5 is the most fragile.
