Contrary to popular belief iPhone 5C, it’s not just a cheap, made in China, phone. It has most of the internal specification of the iPhone 5 which was released last year. Never a big fan of the big screens, Apple didn’t change much to the screen size on this one either, focusing on internal specs. The Moto X, on the other hand focuses on personalization, as Motorola says it is more important than specs.
Design, Display and Form Factor
If you’re looking for a large display and a thin bezel, you should go with the Moto X which has a 4.7 inch display. On the other hand, if you’re not really interested in that, and just want a phone with standard screen size and a flat back panel, you can go for the iPhone 5C.
Processor, Internal Detailing
It’s a little tricky to compare the processors in the two phones, because they run different operating systems. Motorola packs an x8 chip that they developed themselves, with 1.7 GHz, while the iPhone 5C has the A6 chip used for the iPhone 5. Usually Apple compares its device’s speed to that of its predecessor, but they didn’t this time, thus leaving us in the dark regarding 5C’s speed.
Although the 10 MP camera on the rear, alongside the 2 MP camera on the front are good specs, the Moto X can’t compete with the 5C, which has the same 8MP camera found in the iPhone 5. The camera in the iPhone 5 is one of the most acclaimed smartphone cameras.
Extra money can be spent for customization, as Apple sells cases for $29, and for $50 you can get a customized panel. On Amazon.com, the iPhone 5C is about $490 while the Moto X is around $290
A characteristic that can decide whether you get the 5C or the Moto X, is what OS you prefer. If you want to rock the iOS 7, you can go for the 5C, while the Moto X is the choice for you if you want your device to run Android.
