If you’re looking to buy a new smartphone for you or as a gift, the first thing you need to do is get informed. Here we have a comparison between the Motorola Moto G and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini to get you started with some ideas of some great devices.
Motorola Moto G
You probably heard about Motorola’s Moto X: a very talked-about smartphone with great specs and features. The star of Motorola was rumored to be released sometime later as a more budget friendly device. The Motorola Moto G can be classified as the affordable handset everyone was talking about. While it holds a lot of Moto X’s features, it is also easy on your wallet.
The display featured on the Motorola Moto G is 4.5 inches long and can render a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The pixel ratio for this device is of 326 pixels-per-inch. We find that these specs are quite decent, and bonus feature: Moto G also has the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen protective shield.
As for processor, the smartphone houses a quad core processor (Snapdragon 400) working at 1.2 GHz featuring Adreno 305 graphic. Motorola’s handset supports 1GB of RAM and two options of internal storage: 8GB of 16GB (this memory is not expandable via microSD card).
Regarding camera features, we can see that the Moto G sports a 5MP primary camera (LED flash + face detection + touch focos) and a secondary camera of 1.3MP.
This device is estimated to last around 24 hours of mixed usage, all thanks to the 2070 mAh battery unit it houses. The operating system for the Motorola Moto G is Android 4.3.
In testing, we observed that this device can boot faster than the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (a difference of 5.3 seconds), as well as make call faster (difference of 1.1 seconds).
Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini
As we saw that the Motorola Moto G has a lot of features seen on the Motorola Moto X, with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini there is a similar situation. The Mini version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 is meant to be cheaper but at the same time hold most of the same features as the original.
The Galaxy S4 Mini is equipped with a 4.3 inches screen. Not the definition of “Mini”, we would say, but it is smaller than the Galaxy S4 and that is basically what the porpoise is with this device. The handset has the following dimensions: 4.9 x 2.4 x 0.4 in. To make a comparison to another popular smartphone, the device is similar in size to the iPhone 5S. We can see that the home buttons haven’t changed their position on the modified version.
The operating system the TouchWiz interface is paired with is the Android 4.2 OS. The app experience is guaranteed to be a smooth, pleasant experience since the device does show off special features like: Watch On for TV control, S Voice, Group Play and S Memo. If you have a 3G carrier network, the device is registered to have some setbacks when it comes to downloading, but all in all, this is a great device as well.
Both devices are good, feature-packed smartphones, but the slight advantage has to go to Moto G on only the criteria of a newer operating system.
You can find of these phones on amazon.com. The Moto G costs 179 dollars while Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini can be purchased at the price of 289 dollars.
