Motorola Moto G (4G LTE) vs HTC Desire 816 – Top Specs and Price Comparison

The HTC Desire 816 is only a few months older than the Motorola Moto G (4G LTE). Also, both devices are packed with cool features and they are also quite affordable. Read the following comparison if you are interested in purchasing any of these devices.

Display, Dimensions, Design and Color

The Motorola Moto G comes with a 4.5 inch IPS (In-plane switching) LCD display, which offers a 720 x 1280 resolution, 329 ppi, while the HTC Desire 816 has a bigger 5.5 inch Super LCD2 display, 267 ppi, which offers the same 720 x 1280 resolution.

Being covered in a plastic frame, The Motorola Moto G is both solid and appealing. It also features a water-resistant coating, but without the IP67 certification.

The HTC Desire 816’s design features a sexy body made out of polycarbonate plastic and when I say ‘sexy’ I mean ‘HOT’. The design is solid and more than charming.

Weighting 143 grams, the Moto G is lighter than the Desire 816, which weights 165 grams. The Moto G is 0.46 inch thick, while the Desire 816 is only 0.31 inches thick.

As for the color, the Moto G’s back case comes in six distinctive colors, but the front comes only in black or white. The Desire 816 comes in a variety of colors like green, red, black, gray.

Storage capacity, Hardware and Software

The Motorola Moto G is packed with 1 GB RAM and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Cortex-A7, 1.2 GHz processor, while the HTC Desire 816 has 1.5 GB of RAM and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Cortex-A7, 1.6 GHz processor.

The Moto G comes in two versions: 8 and 16 GB of internal storage capacity and can support a microSD card up to 32GB. The Desire 816 comes with only 8GB internal storage and supports a microSD card up to 128GB.

The Android v4.4.2 KitKat operating system can be found on both smartphones. It can be upgraded to newer versions of Android.

Power and Camera

A 5MP main camera with LED Flash and a 1.3 MP secondary camera can be found on the Motorola Moto G. The HTC Desire 816 holds a better 13MP main camera with LED flash and a 5 MP secondary camera.

The Moto G is powered by a 2070 mAh battery, which is able to offer 24 hours of talk time and 336 hours of stand-by. The Desire 816 has a 2600 mAh battery which offers 21 hours of talk time and up to 737 hours of stand-by.

SIM and Connectivity

Wi-Fi 802.11, 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.0 and also the WiFi hotspot feature can be found on both the Moto G and the Desire 816. The Desire 816 also comes with NFC (Near field communication).

Last but not least, the Moto G comes with micro-SIM support, while the HTC Desire 816 comes with nano-SIM support.
