Moto G vs. Moto X2 – Comparing Specs and Features

The release of Moto G that is considered as a close sibling to its predecessor, the Moto X, has shaken things in the mobile world with its lower price.

The Moto G can be made available at a low cost of $179. The device may not show innovative technology nor can it be ranked higher, in specifications. However, for users looking for a decent offering, the device is a perfect buy. The device would get the things done without much fuss.

In comparison, the Moto X2 is in the news again. The device is expected to be released by the end of summer. The Moto X2, also known as the Moto X+1 is put in comparison with the simple yet powerful Moto G smartphone.

Design

The Moto G is very similar to the Moto X in design. It is easy to handle with its curved rear casing that feels good in the hand. The body is made from polycarbonate plastic with a removable rear casing that comes in a variety of colors. In comparison, the Moto G is expected to come in four new leather rear panels – blue, red, grey and black. The body dimensions of the Moto X2 is expected to measure 5.25 inches in height, 2.77 inches in width and 0.54 inches in thickness.

Display

The Moto G comes with a modest 4.5 inches LCD display with a pixel density of 329 pixels-per-inch. However, its insubstantial brightness proves to be a challenge, to view the screen outdoors in the sunlight. The screen may not be the best, but it functions for what it is. The Moto X2 is expected to come fitted with 5.2 inches full HD touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device is also expected to come with a rear panel option, customizable with the aid of the Moto Maker.

CPU and Memory

The processor of the Moto G has earned a good reputation in the market. However, the device leaves the user yearning for excess power. The device comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad core 1.2 GHz CPU and Adreno 305 graphic processor. The device comes paired with a RAM of 1GB. In comparison, the Moto X2 is expected to come equipped with an enhanced quad core CPU (Qualcomm Snapdragon 800) running at 2.3 GHz paired with 2GB of RAM. The Moto X2 is believed to run on Android version 4.4.4 KitKat operating system. The device would come with an internal storage capacity of 32GB and expandable card slot of up to 128GB.

Price

The Moto X2 is expected to be priced at $400.
