Moto G vs. Moto X2 – Comparing Features and Specs

Motorola has been in the news again with the proposed release of its next generation smartphone, the Moto X2 or the Moto X+1.

The Moto X2 is yet another much-awaited smartphone, besides the likes of iPhone 6 and the Samsung Note 4. Motorola has earned respect in the smartphone arena with its decent smartphones, coming at lower prices. The Moto G is readily available in the market at a reasonable price of $179. With the combination of low price with almost similar specs, as that of high-end smartphones, the Motorola Company has given the other companies a run for their money. However, Motorola believes in getting the things done. Maybe, that is why Motorola’s smartphones are not high spec devices. Nevertheless, the smartphones offer a decent performance.

Let us compare the Moto G in terms of features and specs, believed to be offered by the upcoming Moto X2.

Design

In terms of design, the Moto G resembles the Moto X smartphone. The device comes with a curved back panel that provides a smooth handling experience. The device is manufactured out of polycarbonate plastic that caters the device with a plethora of color options. The back panel is removable and comes in multiple color options. On the other hand, the much-awaited Moto X2 is also believed to come in multiple color options. The back panel of the Moto X2 is rumored to be available in four colors – grey, red, blue and black. In terms of body measurements, the Moto X2 is rumored to stand 5.25 inches tall, 2.77 inches wide and would be available in a thickness of 0.54 inches.

Display

Moto G comes equipped with a decent 4.5 inch Display. The LCD screen of the Moto G comes with 329-ppi pixel density that is quite modest with a 4.5 inch display. The weak point: low brightness. The Moto G would struggle in bright light due to its low brightness. However, the screen is perfect for simple functions, if not the best, in the smartphone market.

In comparison, the expected Moto X2 is rumored to come equipped with a 5.2 inch touchscreen. The Full HD screen would be having a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The smartphone is also rumored to come equipped with a 25 back casing options. It is believed to be customized with the assistance of Moto Maker.

Processor and Memory

Moto G has a brilliant processor that has earned a name in the smartphone arena. Regardless, the smartphone leaves the user craving for more power. The quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor running at a speed of 1.2 GHz along with an Adreno 305 GPU is a treat to have. A RAM of 1GB accompanies the processor.

On the other hand, soon to be released Moto X2 is rumored to have state of the art quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at a speed of 2.3GHz. The processor is believed to be accompanied with a RAM of 2GB. The Moto X2 or the Moto X+1, is expected to come with an enhanced Android based operating system, the KitKat version 4.4.4. The internal storage capacity of the Moto X2 is believed to be around 32GB, along with an external memory card slot for memory enhancement up to 128GB.
