Moto G vs. LG Optimus L9 – Comparing Features and Price

The release of Moto X, by Motorola, was hyped with rumors regarding its low price launch.

The rumor regarding the low price of the device was in order to contend with the Nexus series manufactured by LG Electronics. However, that was not the case in reality. Motorola released Moto G, the successor to Moto X, in November 2013. The device aimed to shake things up in the mobile market with a launch price at $299.99. The device may not be an innovative one with high specs, but then, there are people who would relish purchasing a phone that would get the things done.

In comparison, LG Electronics has made a name for itself, with its range of Optimus smartphones. The company is not scared to push beyond the limits of technology with its range of smartphones. The LG Optimus T9 may not be on the top of the line, yet, it encompasses great features at an affordable price. The LG Optimus L9 was released in November 2012 and made available at $249.99. Let us compare the features of these two devices.

Design and Display

The Moto G smartphone is very similar to its predecessor, the Moto X. The Moto G comes with a slightly curved rear casing. The device is easy to handle providing a comfortable and ergonomic feel when held. The smartphone is made from polycarbonate plastic. It comes in a variety of color options. The body dimensions measure 129.9mm in height, 65.9mm in width and 11.6mm in thickness. The display features a 4.5 inches LCD touchscreen with 720×1280 pixels resolution. The overall weight of the device is 143 grams.

Comparing Moto G to the LG Optimus L9, the latter is based on an angular minimalist design. The edges are tapered and textured to cater a soft touch rear. The buttons are well placed; however, the volume and side power buttons are smaller. The device comes in plastic; hence, is light in weight. The quad core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor paired with 1GB of RAM and Adreno305 GPU caters effective surface operations, however, the device gets lethargic with tasks that are more rigorous. The device has an internal memory of 8/16GB. The device works with a 2070 mAh battery.

The LG Optimus L9 derives power from dual core TI OMAP CPU along with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone runs on Android 4.0.4 operating system and incorporates an internal storage capacity of 4GB. The device comes equipped with 2150 mAh battery.

The Moto G has been kept simple and straight with all the fundamental features of an Android smartphone. In comparison, the LG Optimus L9 offers a great budget phone to the masses. At such a throw away price, the LG Optimus L9 offers sleek design, good call performance and great battery life. Both these smartphones are good value for your money with similar features and specifications.
