Moto G vs BlackBerry Z3 – Top Specs and Price Comparison

Display, Exterior and Size

The display of the BlackBerry Z3 is a 5 inch IPS LCD display, with a resolution of 540x 960 pixels and has a pixel density of 220 ppi, while the Moto G has a smaller IPS LCD display of 4.5 inch, with a resolution of 720x 1280 pixels and a pixel density of 329 ppi.

The BlackBerry Z3 has a robust frame, like all the others BlackBerry phones. The back of this model of BlackBerry seems to be a rubberized one because of the textured plastic that the back panel is made of.  The front of it consists smooth glass with not so much bezel space encompassing the display. The thickness of the BlackBerry Z3 is 0.36 inch, and the weight is 164g. On the other hand, the Moto G’s front has an edged HD display and a plastic body. The new model of Moto G(2014)has also a water-resistant coating for a supplemental protection, inside and outside. I have to mention that the protection has no IP67 certification. The Moto G weights 143g and has a thickness of 0,46 inch.

Hardware, Software and Memory

The Motto G has a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon400 Cortex A-17 processor, that runs at 1.2 GHz. On the other hand the Black Berry Z3 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Krait processor, that also runs at 1.2 GhZ.Also, the Moto G has a memory of 1GB of RAM, whereas the BlackBerry has a 1.5GB of RAM.

A difference between the Moto G and the BlackBerry Z3 is made by different operating system. The Moto G operates on Android OS, more precisely the 2013 model operates on Android OS v4.3, and the 2014 model operates on Android OS v4.4.2, while the BlackBerry Z3 operates on BlackBerry v10.2.1 OS.

The internal storage of the Moto G varieties between 8 GB and 16GB, and it does not support micro SD card. Although, if you have the new model Moto G (2014) you can expand its memory to 32GB because it supports a microSD slot. Despite the pact that the BlackBerry Z3 has an internal storage of only 8GB, it can be increased to 32GB with a microSD card.

Camera and Battery

The cameras of the Moto G and the BlackBerry Z3 are  similar, they have a main camera of 5MP and LED flash. The difference is made by the secondary camera, which is a 1.3 MP camera for Moto G and a 1.1MP camera for BlackBerry Z3.

The battery unit in both cases is non-removable,  the BlackBerry has a 2500mAh one, and the Moto G has a Li-Ion 2070mAh one (this one has a lower quality the the BlackBerry one).

The BlackBerry Z3 battery runs for 15 Hours in talk time and 389 Hours in stand-by Time, while the Moto G battery runs for 24 Hours, respective 336 Hours.

Connectivity, SIM and Colour

The Moto G and the BlackBerry Z3 have some things in common, like both of them has an USB, a Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11, micro-sim support and neither of them as a Micro HDMI port, (except one of the BlackBerry models, the BlackBerry Z10). Some models of Moto G supports dual-sim mode, while the BlackBerry doesn’t.

The BlackBerry Z3 is just black for now, but the white one is very desirable, on the other hand, the front of the Moto G case varies  between black and white, and the back of it has six different colors.

Price

The Moto G has a price of $195.00 and the BlackBerry Z3 has a price of $279.00.
