Samsung and Microsoft are trying to impress their fans with the latest releases, and their tablets, Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and Surface 3 Pro are two of the best devices on the market. So, which one of them is the best investment? Let’s take a closer look at their specs.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0

Display and Sizes

The Samsung tablet has an 8inches TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1280x800pixels and 189ppi. Its dimensions are 209.8×123.8×7.4mm and it weights 314grams. The 10.1inches variant has the same screen resolution, but the pixel density is lower – 149ppi.


The rear camera on the tablet is 5MP (2560 x 1920pixels, autofocus, touch focus, face detection and geo tagging), and the front camera is 1.3MP. You can record videos 720p@30fps.

Hardware and OS

The device is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Exynos 4 processor, and has Mali-400 GPU. It has 1.5GB of RAM and two variants of internal memories: 16/32 GB – expandable up to 64GB. It runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and you can access all kinds of useful apps.

Battery Life

The tablet has a battery with a capacity of 4,450mAh, and it allows you to use it for 11 hours (multimedia) or you can listen music on it for 96 hours.

Microsoft Surface 3 Pro

Display and Sizes

The new Surface 3 Pro, which was released in June, comes with a 12inches ClearType HD display and a resolution of 2160x1440pixels and 216ppi. Plus, you have the possibility to connect the device to an external monitor. Its dimensions are 29×20.1×9.1mm and it weights 800 grams. You love the silver magnesium shell design, which gives a premium look to the tablet.


The tablet has a 5MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera with 1080p HD.

Hardware and OS

The tablet is available in three variants of dual –core processors: a 1.5GHz i3-4020Y (3MB cache and 11.5W) with 64GB of internal storage, a 2.9GHz i5-4300U (3MB cache and 15W) with 128GB of internal storage and a 3.3GHz i7-4650U (4MB cache and 15 W) with 256GB of internal storage.

The tablet runs on the Windows 8.1 OS with 4 or 8GB of RAM

Battery Life

The Surface 3 Pro comes with an 8000mAh battery which lasts 9hours when you use the device continuously.


The price of the Surface 3 Pro starts from 799 dollars ffor the i3 variant. The i7 variant costs 1949 dollars.
