iPad Air vs. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 – Comparison of Features and Specs

The rivalry between the Apple Incorporated and the Korean giant, Samsung Electronics, is second to none.

There is hardly a dimension left, where both these big guns have not crossed each other’s path. They have been battling for the top spot in the arena, be it smartphones, tablets or soon to come smartwatches. The release of iPad Air in the month of November 2013 was a major update by the company. The update was released with premium changes, especially in the thickness department.

Comparing the iPad Air with other companies tablets, such as the Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, brings out the strong points of the former in a huge way. Let us compare the two tablets for their features and specs.

Design

These two devices are very much different from each other with regard to their design. The iPad Air is the pinnacle of excellence when it comes to build quality and design. On the other hand, Samsung keeps to its extensive plastic usage in its smartphones and tablets.

Display

The Apple iPad Air comes equipped with a 9.7 inch display, that is smaller in comparison to the 10.1 inch display of the Tab 2 10.1. However, the difference lies in the resolution department. The Samsung gives out a resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels in comparison to the 1536 x 2048 pixels resolution of the iPad Air tablet. The Apple wins this round despite Samsung offering a bigger display.

Processor

The iPad Air carries out various tasks with ease due to its 1.3GHz dual core A7 processor. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 also comes equipped with a dual core processor running at 1GHz, slightly slower than its esteemed counterpart. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 offers a completely different user experience. However, there are no delays or stutters with the working of the iPad Air device, especially in terms of opening applications. The same cannot be said for its counterpart, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.

Camera

The iPad Air comes equipped with a 5MP camera with state of the art features. The only aspect missing is the presence of flash on the device. In comparison, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 has a 3.15MP camera with no eye-catching features. However, the device comes with a front facing 1.2MP camera in comparison to the front VGA camera on the Apple iPad Air device.

Battery

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 comes with a powerful 7000 mAh battery that is still overshadowed with a powerful 8820 mAh battery of the iPad Air device.

The iPad Air comes with an iOS operating system in comparison to the Android OS of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 device.
