HTC One Mini – Specifications And Features

The HTC One Mini is an Android smartphone manufactured and designed by HTC. The HTC One Mini was manufactured and designed to keep to the standards set by other smartphones in its range while at the same time being priced competitively.

This android smartphone was officially unveiled on the 18th of July 2013 and was released in the markets (select) in August 2013. The global release of the HTC One smartphone took place in September the same year. HTC designed the One Mini to provide its customers with the exact experience as the HTC One at a relatively lower price and in a smaller package.

Understanding the HTC One Mini

Hardware

The physical resemblance of the HTC One mini to the HTC One is rather apparent, even to the casual observer. HTC is one among the many phone manufacturers trying to bring some flagship charm into their fairly cheaper handsets. The HTC one mini borrows much of its design from the HTC one. The mini is covered in aluminum and its front panels are a little rougher than the surface of the original HTC one. The back of the mini has a smooth finish similar to that of the HTC one. The body has a palm-friendly curve, just like its counterpart, although the flash and the camera sensor are aligned on the back.

Camera

The HTC one mini has the same camera sensor as the HTC One. The camera sensor is a backside illuminated sensor, which is paired with an f/2.0 lens. Image resolution is capped at 4 megapixels. Based on its design, the camera sensor of the HTC One Mini offers a large area for the bouncing off of light and the chance for more light to hit it. This greatly improves low light shots with fewer flecks of red and blue in your night time photos. The front camera has a 1.6 megapixel shooter. However, it lacks a wide-angle lens and this limits the number of friends you will be able to take selfies with.

Battery Life and Performance

A smaller phone and a smaller screen mean that the battery is smaller too. At 1800mAh, we are left to wonder whether the HTC one mini can last a day. With brightness at 50 percent, and social networks polling at an interval of 15 minutes, a test proved that the battery can last for a little over 6 hours. This is a bit disappointing, and leaves HTC one mini clients hoping that a drop in screen size and resolution would be translated to battery saving. Even during casual use, the battery would only last 10 hours. This means that you would have to plug in the charger after 10 hours. HTC one mini users should, therefore, be ready to have a charger close at hand everywhere they go. The responsiveness of the HTC one mini phone is, however, at par with the HTC one original phone.

Verdict

Overall, the HTC One Mini is a great buy for those who want to experience the HTC One at a cheaper price.
