HTC One M8 Prime vs iPhone 5S – Specs, Features and Price Comparison

HTC One M8 Prime

The device is yet to come to the tech market, being announced to be released sometime in late 2014, but it is said to be a very fierce competition for the top smartphones on the market right now. The HTC One M8 Prime comes with some very impressing features, so now we’ll just have to wait and see what the public thinks about the handset.

Visual Details

The device will be available in three color schemes: Amber Gold, Gunmetal Gray and Glacial Silver. The design of the handset is looking quite slick, all thanks to the metallic body we’ve already seen on all the One handsets until now. The display will measure 5.5 inches and will come with a very impressive screen resolution: 1440 x 2560 pixels. Also, the pixel density is very nice, at 534 ppi.

Technical Specifications

We don’t have precise information in the hardware department, but we hear that the device will be powered by an octa core processor. As for RAM, the HTC One M8 Prime will support 3GB and, regarding ROM, we can see that the device will come with either 16GB or 32GB (if you choose to expand your memory, you can do so – by up to 128 GB – by using a microSD card). The operating system the HTC One M8 is most likely to run on is Android KitKat.

Multimedia

We hear that the rear-facing camera will come with 4MP and multiple features like: LED flash, autofocus, full HD video shooting and more. What make this camera special are the ultra pixel technology and some other features you will discover.

Battery

Although no official word came on this matter, we are expecting the HTC One M8 Prime to house a pretty powerful battery and to offer a long lasting performance.

Price

We don’t know a price yet for this device, but we’ll give you HTC One M8’s (32 GB) price, to have an idea of where the new handset will be priced at: $638.00.

iPhone 5S

This device was released last year, in September, but is still maintaining its spot in the top smartphones on the market, surprising the user with some very interesting features. You will find that the iPhone 5S is actually quite a worthy opponent for our HTC One M8 Prime.

Design and Display

The iPhone 5S can be purchased with three color options: Gold, White/Silver and Space Gray. It’s no surprise that the iPhone 5S looks very elegant and polished, seeing how Apple always uses the perfect combination of plastic and metal to bring quality to its devices.

The display is significantly smaller, at 4.0 inches and shows off a lesser screen resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels. We have to give it to the HTC One M8 Prime when it comes to imaging, seeing how the iPhone 5S has an inferior pixel density of 326 pixels per inch.

Performance

The processor that powers the iPhone 5S is a dual core working at 1.3 GHz that is paired up with the Apple A7 chipset. We see less RAM (1GB DDR3) but multiple options for internal memory: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. You won’t be able to expand your memory, since Apple didn’t equip its handset with a microSD slot. The operating system the iPhone 5S runs on is iOS 7.1.2 which is expected to receive the upgrade to iOS 8.

Multimedia

Apple’s device does better when it comes to camera: the rear-facing camera has 8MP and multiple features like: geo-tagging, flashlight, 1080p video shooting, HDR photos and autofocus.

Battery

The small but sufficient Li-Po 1560 mAh battery is more than enough, considering Apple’s OS optimization and is expected to provide power for 2-3 days.

The battery is not that powerful, with a capacity of 1560 mAh (Li-Po), but it is more than enough for the smartphone because it doesn’t tend to be a battery drainer. It’s expected to last 2-3 days.

Price

You will find the iPhone 5S (16 GB) at the price of $480.00.
