HTC One M7 vs HTC One M8 – How Different Is The New Model Comparison

The HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 are similar, but the newest model comes with a few surprises. So, our mission is to compare these models, to take a look at their specs and features and notice the differences.

One M8 has a larger display

HTC One M7 came with a 4.7inches display which presented a resolution of 1920x1080pixels and 468ppi. You’ll be satisfied with the color contrast and the image angles. The good news about the One M8 is that is has a bigger display – 5inches, but the screen resolution hasn’t changed, and the pixel density is lower – 441ppi.

One M8 comes in multiple shade options

The M7 came with a metal body design and it looks nice, but the new trend requires more color options and the M8 offers you three variants of shades: Gunmetal Grey, Arctic Silver and Amber Gold. Both of the models have aluminum build, speakers at the top and at the bottom, but the dimensions and weights differ. The One M7 measures 137.4×68.2×9.33mm its weight is 143grams, being 17grams lighter than the M8, whose dimensions are 146.36×70.6×9.35mm.

M8’s cameras

The M7 had a 4Ultra Pixel camera with 1/3” sensor size and 2µm pixel size and it seems that HTC used this technology on the M8, but which comes with a Duo Camera, so the phone is faster and more superior.

A faster processor on the M8

HTC One M7 came with a 1.7GHz quad-core processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 600), while the M8 is powered by a superior 2.3GHz quad-core processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801). So, we definitely see an improvement here. We also noticed that the M8 has a more powerful battery – 2,600mAh, while the M7’s battery has a capacity of 2,300mAh. But they both host 2GB of RAM.

M8’s internal memory can be expanded

The M7 has two variants of unexpandable memories: 34GB and 64GB. The M8 comes with 16GB of storage capacity, but it’s expandable up to 128GB. Plus, there are 65GB of free Google Drive space, while the M8 has only 25GB of Dropbox space.

Sense 6.0 and Android 4.4.2

The One M8 runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS, with Sense 6.0, which is a newer UI version. The M7 came loaded with the Android 4.1.2 OS – upgradeable to the 4.4 version, and with Sense 5.5 UI.

The HTC One M7 32GB variant costs 420 dollars (International unlocked), while the M8 costs 654 dollars on amazon.com.
