Shortly after Rockstar’s announcement about GTA 5 coming for the next-generation consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and Windows PC, rumors about GTA 6 started to appear all over the internet. Rockstar did not suggest that they will end the popular GTA franchise with GTA 5, but at the same time they did not confirm that they will start developing the GTA 6.
Rockstar had recently said that the team has ideas for the next 45 years in terms of what they’ll do in the GTA. They added that they’re not sure what GTA VI will be like, but they are focusing more on the GTA Online now, and they are working on bringing new DLCs.
GTA 6 takes action in New York?
Dj Whoo Kid said in an interview for Ballerstatus that the action in GTA 6 will take place in “Liberty City”, which is the “virtual” New York City. This year, Rockstar trademarked the term “City Stories” and this might be the name of the next GTA title.
Some say that the franchise will leave the US shores, since Rockstar suggested in the past that the game’s action will not necessarily happen in the US. Some of the possible future locations can be Los Angeles, Paris, London or even Brazil. Some rumors suggested that GTA 6 will be named “Return to Vice City”, which is probably false, but keep in mind that Vice City is the fictional Miami.
GTA 6 is rumored to be released in 2017, but the developers did not confirm any of these speculations. We will most likely hear more after they release the GTA 5 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC, which is supposed to happen somewhere in September.
