It’s a little bit unfair to compare these two phones, because the Z2 is obviously more advanced, while the Z3 has some basic functions, but you could check both phones’ specs and maybe you’ll decide to buy one of them.
Exterior and Displays
The Xperia Z2 has a 5.2inches full HD TRILUMINOS display with a resolution of 1080x1920pixels and 424ppi and X-Reality – for mobile picture engine. You will see the content clearly if you go outside, because the display can “adapt” to the lighting conditions and offers vivid colors. The dimensions of the Xperia Z2 are 146.8×73.3×8.2mm and it weights 163grams. The phone is resistant to water and dust and if it starts to rain out of the sudden, and your fingers are wet, the device won’t be affected. It’s a durable phone with an incorporated noise cancelling feature which offers a quality sound while listening to music on your headphones.
The “poor” Z3 has only a 5inches QHD display with the resolution of 540x960pixels and 220ppi, and it measures 140×72.8×9.3mm, being 1gram heavier. Its design is smooth, the phone having a back panel with a perforated pattern.
Hardware
The Z2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad-Core 2.3GHz CPU and has 3GB of RAM, so don’t worry, your phone will not freeze while you’re multitasking. The phone runs the Android 4.4 and it comes with preinstalled apps such as Timeshift video and background defocus.
The Z3 has only a 1.2GHz Dual-Core CPU and 1.5GB of RAM, but it runs on the BlackBerry 10.2.1 OS and has the same active noise cancellation feature plus other basic features, and BlackBerry maps or a music player.
Cameras and batteries
The Z2 has a 20.7 MP rear camera which captures 4K videos. So, having a Live Color LED display gives the Xperia Z2 the opportunity to offer crisp and clear images, and watching a video gives you a cinematic experience. The battery is of 3200mAh, but it’s non-removable.
The Z3 has a modest 5MP rear camera (LED flash and autofocus) and you can record 1080p videos. Plus, the video playback is decent. As for the battery, it’s also non-removable, but it has a lower capacity – 2500mAh.
