Gionee is working hard to establish the company as a smartphone brand.
The HTC started their company in the same manner almost a decade ago. It seems that Gionee is treading on the same path. The launch of Elife E3 received a warm welcome in the mobile arena. The smartphone offered stupendous features and great performance at a price. However, the latest release by the company, Elife E6 will be reviewed in terms of features and performance.
In comparison, the BlackBerry took time to release its first smartphone, the BB10, which runs on the new platform. The BlackBerry Q10, released in April 2013 was given a task that is considered decisive for the future of the company. The task was to keep the customers loyal to the company. Let us see how the device fared in the task, along with the comparison made, in terms of features, specs and price with that of Elife E6.
Design
The BlackBerry Q10 has a traditional QWERTY keypad along with a small screen. The screen may be a disappointment for the users, looking forward to enjoying multimedia experience, on their smartphones. However, the device is sturdy and compact with a plastic body that feels good in the hand.
The Gionee Elife E6 has a unibody made of plastic with a matte texture to keep it fingerprint resistant. The smartphone is slim and light with the buttons well placed on the sides. The design is similar to that of the Apple iPhone 5. Overall, the smartphone has full marks to the design concept.
Dimensions and Display
The BlackBerry stands 119.6mm tall, 66.8mm wide and 10.4mm thick. Despite the device having a small 3.1 inches AMOLED touchscreen, it has a resolution of 720×720 pixels that is just perfect for 330 ppi. The 1:1 aspect ratio makes the videos appear small on the display.
The display is one among the various features of the Life E6. The device comes equipped with IPS full HD 5 inches touch screen with crisp text and vibrant and rich colors. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection coating. The smartphone stands 142.5mm tall, 68.4mm wide and 7.9mm thick.
Hardware and Memory
The BlackBerry Q10 incorporates 1.5GHz dual core processor and 2GB of RAM. The device has an internal memory of 16GB along with expandable memory card slot of up to 64GB.
The E6 supports Mediatek SoC clocked at 1.5GHz. It also has a 2GB of RAM with no memory expansion slot. However, the internal memory of 32GB should keep most users happy.
The Q10 comes with 2100 mAh battery in comparison to the 2000 mAh battery of the E6 that has poor real time performance. The battery drains itself quickly as compared to the 10 hours talk time of the BlackBerry Q10.
Price
The BlackBerry Q10 is priced at $359.99 in comparison to the price of Gionee Elife E6 that is available at $549.99.
The Blackberry Q10 is a decent performer with QWERTY keypad and superb email and BBM integration. However, the 1:1 aspect ratio makes multimedia consumption and web browsing a disappointment for users. The Gionee Elife E6 is a little expensive keeping in mind the performance of the smartphone. The battery performance is pathetic. The device requires certain updates to be made in order to compete with the big boys in the game.
